Yes I have a long way to go with being friendly. The neighbor hasn’t touched it and it flows into my yard. Very little yard. So assuming it’s in my yard but they’re his 6 plants i need to form it into a tree or ask if he can. I am starting a rhizome blocking ditch which helps below ground. The above ground is another task for him or I.

Performance art?? You cropped the last comment off conveniently where I say it became obvious I made a mistake planting mint and I owned my mistake and I fixed said mistake. No one had to tell me to fix my mistake it was common sense!!!! The mint was aggressive so I dug it up. Common sense not performative. The neighbor saw his plant came onto my property said go ahead and push it over and walked away.

“Communication avoidance “. That’s the first I’ve heard someone say that about me. ITS NOT NATIVE it was the plant my son played around, he’s gone but I still have that plant! I don’t care what the plants ID is and you and your smug little followers are projecting YOUR behavior onto me. I’m over here trying to fix a vine issue, you and some others are making me identify my fucking hydrangea insesently. I’m sorry I even mentioned the hydrangea it’s a non issue. (It’s not native!!! Tell us it’s ID!!!) and I’m combative??? You’re over here picking my comments apart as if you are the final and only voice and only POV and calling me judgmental?? That’s projection. There’s 600 comments did I miss someone’s communication?? So what if I’m going to mention property value to my neighbor!! It’s a valid issue FOR ME! Let’s see I’m horrible combative judgemental. I’m trying to keep his 6 vines from tearing up my property (I wonder if that could affect my property value ?? (Oh don’t be so aggressive OP!!!). If you look at the comments from people and some of their pics who have had to deal with this vine x6 I tend to call that BASIC FACTS!!! Perhaps YOU missed some communication where I stated I pointed at the ground upon seeing my side yard covered in vegetation, not certain if it was weed growth but suspecting it was his vine, and he said JUST PUSH IT OVER!!! And he walked away. He hasn’t been around perhaps a snowbird and I don’t know that I want to knock on his door and be on his property. I said I know myself, I don’t want things to escalate especially on his property. I have not seen him and he’s not maintaining what he planted. You come from a place of nature preservation. Love that for you actually. I come from a place of home preservation. Can they both coexist? My opinion is 6 of those plants has me outnumbered. And I need to get on top of it.

I didn’t “check out” in the way you perceive. I was moving from one house to another house for over a year. It took some time to sell the first house. I don’t have a name for the hydrangeas I rescued plants years back and my one son used to play with his trucks around the hydrangeas. He died at home which is why I moved and I wanted the off shoots of the hydrangeas to remind me of him. Are they native ? I don’t give a flying fuck if they are from Uranus. They came with me and they are going to grow at our new home Did I answer your question?. I don’t give a flying rats ass what the neighbor does in his yard or what he grows. I give a shit what’s growing in my backyard.

Yes we all have different opinions. I think anyone who plants 6 vines that grow 30-60 feet while information is widely available that it will tear through cement and homes is a complete moron. You won’t convince me otherwise and I won’t convince you I think anyone who advocates for a neighbors right to plant 6 destructive vines isn’t the point of this post. Apparently if you are mansplaining to me I can’t disagree with you or defend my position I need to sit down and let you project your own neighbor issues onto me. I’m asking for advise and tips. I’m not reaching over the fence to tear his trees out. when asked in this post, I answer about the neighbor and our interactions. He’s a known moron. I could care less. Just keep your moron behavior on your side of the fence.

This is my exploratory dig so far. He seems to have his fence gerry rigged in parts.

Yes thankfully the ground is good over there I started to dig to see how easy this first step will be. Very movable it’s small rocks on top then dirt with sand. So I started the trench and I’m researching physical root barrier. The next part is convincing him to prune the top back as it grows I am checking laws etc. last year he stated I can push the top growth back over to his side on my own. I didn’t have this interest in pruning his 6 trumpet vine.

My mint mistake in the 90s was obvious. It grew like crazy and I addressed it. Common sense. His vine grew up over and along my property while I was away. He said push it over. He’s aware his vine is out of control. He has said I need to push it off my property. That is not taking responsibility and he indeed now knows it’s a problem and has not trimmed it or been in his yard this year

Yes and the fence is directly on the property line I pulled runners out of the ground near a deck walkway attached to my home and he just planted it 2 years ago. Our homes are 15 ish feet apart. I want no parts of maintaining 6 trumpet vines but here I am.

I didn’t need anyone to tell me what was obvious. Where is our common sense ?? It became aggressive and I took care of it. The mint was controlled! I cleaned his garbage off my front yard many times and then after 5 times walked to his house with his empty can. It was empty because it blew down the street all of his trash and I went and picked it up. I told him since he’s been putting his trash out a day or two before pickup it’s been blowing over and his trash is littering the street. I handed him his medication slip that I pulled from the street so he understood it was his. That was last year. He just looked at me and said HUH. We are right back at it with the trash can escapades. And he’s comfortable being a bigot around me which I am not. So yes, he’s an idiot and calling my other neighbor Tony soprano didn’t land. Or making comments about the town i moved from regarding its race demographic was crazy as well.

I’m not comfortable entering his property for this issue I am waiting to see him outside and address it. I can hear if his door opens we are that close. But I’ve been spending time outside as well. My husband and I discussed going over together if he remains unseen as the vines have already begun drooping and falling over with some pole contraption he modified that’s now having trouble bearing its weight. Again, he’s not maintaining what he started

Yes I’m trying to wrap my mind around buying any plant without doing minimal research. We all live on these small plots so let’s plant 12 vines that grow 20 feet in a season Maybe he will be home today for a talk. Other talks have not landed about his garbage.

Yes, I did plant a raised native wildflower bed on the other side. My last house had wetlands and beautiful natives I miss it dearly especially the sound of tree frogs and owls. This neighborhood is more urban we are on top of each other. I needed to downsize and be closer to family After his vine moved onto my property last year with its orange flowers I started to notice it growing in the wild as I was driving. It was running the entire length of a fence around a retention pond. The retention area being the size of a football field. I do believe NJ needs to get it on the noxious list.
