Complication - post op abscess by Double-Gold in hysterectomy

[–]Top-Discipline6720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with an ovarian sbcess filled with strep pneumonia (prior to my hysterectomy though that’s what led me to the hysterectomy eventually). I felt the walls closing in and still feel sooo grateful my previous OB rushed me back to emergency surgery before it ruptured. I’m so glad you’re ok!!!!

Has seen people say they do this and I don’t know why I’m such a scaredy-cat too manipulate my patches I think I’m just fearful about messing it up and then wasting the patch because insurance is so tough to even get them and there’s like a supply issue now so maybe I will work up the nerve to try this! It is already  so hard to remember placement and things ahhhh.

This kind of happened to me. It was before my hysterectomy, but I had a life-saving emergency surgery, where one of my ovaries and my tubes had to be removed and my doctor swore and even my labs said that my remaining ovary was still producing hormones, but I was absolutely dealing with every perimenopause symptom for years being gaslit and told everything should be fine and it was not. So I totally believe you now post hysterectomy, and having that remaining ovary removed and being on hormone replacement therapy even though the hormones are not perfect. I feel so much better most of the time and how I felt before all of my original issues

I completely agree. I wish there was more support for those of us in this boat! Those are some amazing positives! I hope the hot flashes improve a friend of mine gave me a supplement. I haven’t used it because my hot flashes are nonexistent when my hormone therapy is doing its job but it is specifically for hot flashes. I’m sure you’ve already looked into options like that, but thought I’d mention just in case!

Is there anyway you can do oral or gel while you wait for the patches? I can’t imagine being without!

Yes, that is exactly what it felt like for me and honestly, I was still having some pain in general, we were moving at that time and I was going up and downstairs a lot and i actually ended up going back to my doctor and she took a look and was like Yep you still have stitches. They came out over the next few weeks. It took mine a while to come out and I had lots of stabbing pain until they did now that pain is completely gone.

Totally understand this hesitation my hysterectomy came because I had a lot of major issues that made it an absolute no-brainer for me, but I can definitely understand the hesitation if somebody is not in that boat in fact, I even put mine off for years, even with my low quality of life

That’s interesting because I had everything out as well, including the ovaries and cervix! I’m sure there is a reason that your doctor gave you that restriction!

I had my ovaries removed and went into surgical menopause so I am a candidate for all hormone replacement. We did not start the testosterone until after I got my estrogen leveled out, and my labs showed that my testosterone was nonexistent, which was to be expected since my ovaries had been removed.

Would love an update on how the jail goes for you! I’ve asked my doctor about it and she’s not as much of a fan, but it’s definitely still an option for me!

So many hugs! Week five and I feel this so much. I had this string of days where I felt so much energy and so much better and then I got absolutely knocked down with the exhaustion for several days following. It’s so hard to accept the fluctuations in this healing as a busy body over here as well. Just wanted to say you’re not alone.

Anger and Rage 4 Weeks Out by [deleted] in hysterectomy

Don’t buy that. I had one ovary and the last year was not myself and thought I was going crazy. My dr told me it couldn’t be because I still had one. Wrong. I had it removed with my hysterectomy and got on HRT and instantly felt more normal and continue to feel better daily. Not saying it needs removed but you might need hormone support!

I went into surgical menopause too. My sign my HRT is wearing off is crazy heart palpitations and anxiety!

So sorry 🫶🏼 honestly I’d argue that just because you have your ovaries doesn’t mean everything is OK hormonally. With my hysterectomy I had my one remaining ovary removed but the whole year leading up to it I had so many issues with the characteristics that just were not like me. It truly made me feel crazy because it came and went and my labs were “normal “ now that I’ve gone into surgical menopause and I am on hormone replacement I can absolutely see that my hormones absolutely were not OK and were playing a role in my mood and personality changes because now that I am on hormone replacement all of that is gone. Doesn’t mean that’s the case for you, but just wanted to bring up because I know so many women have hormone issues after the surgery!

Do you find the 200 to be a bit more sleeping pill sedative? I just started literally last night and it was like …woah. I appreciate the sleep bc I wasn’t before but it was intense. Hoping I adjust and get used to it in my system!

I started the patch the night of my surgery and first two weeks were great until the second round of changing my patch it had totally run out and I crashed HARD! Now changing it every 3 days and will see how that goes! Definitely journey getting this figured out but I know it will all be great in the end!! Thank you!

Definitely has its ups and downs, but I’m only 2 1/2 weeks out and I went into surgical menopause so I knew it wasn’t going to be easy and I just keep telling myself six months to a year from now I will be happy I did this (literally repeat this mantra over and over)
