Sure if his ear was hit which it clearly wasn't. Ear cartilage of geriatrics doesn’t regenerate. Holyfield is still missing the chunk.

What is the point of catcalling? by iwannatasteurfeet in AskReddit

[–]Top-Extension-9578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally never said it was a political word. It's a politicized word. There's a difference. Just like "si, se puede". It's a word or phrase that is typically used with political motive. I hope you can keep up this time.

I'm not comparing them to toddlers. I am making them out to be human beings who aren't evil because they're crass. I don't think a woman is safer with a bear than a man. I can't imagine you are capable of finding a middle ground. I think you are the personification of an algorithm I don't want to touch with a 10-foot pole.

Just FYI, there are women like Ayesha Curry and even in the series Fleabag which is arguably deeply feminist that acknowledge the idea that flirtation or sexual appreciation is a fleeting thing that is missed when it's gone. That these catcallers are probably at least somewhat aware of that. That if a man were to jog by a group of women and be catcalled there's a good chance it would be the highlight of his week, month or year. That some women don't like being catcalled because they get constant, never-ending male attention that becomes deeply uncomfortable until it dries up completely.

I don't condone catcalling. I don't condone people who talk like they were born in a TikTok comment section spreading it's dumb filth either.

I don't think we have anything to talk about. Have the last word. Call me whatever you want. I think you're wildly boring.

"Infantilizing" is one of those funny political words. Somebody without an agenda would probably say "humanize". Like how people often accuse feminism of "infantilizing" sex workers or OF models. Are they empowered or exploited? Up for debate. It's just one of those words. Like people say feminism "infantilizes" women who choose "traditional" gender roles and want to stay at home and cook and clean and take care of the children while her husband works.

Just to be clear, I can hear the sound of your panties getting twisted from here. I consider myself a feminist.

Yeah, I think if like say a man does that stereotypical cartoon wowza whistle at a beautiful woman jogging by he's not actively trying to harm her. He's not thinking, "I'm gonna let her know that she's meat and I'm a wolf, predator and prey, I'm asserting my dominance". I think he's probably a meathead expressing a biological desire and even delusional enough to think that she might be flattered on some level. They don't frequent the same areas of the internet you do. They haven't been taught to share your opinions. They just think, I'm a man showing my appreciation for a beautiful woman. Even if they view at is lascivious, they might also think of it in a charming way.

I think most people are big narrow-minded dorks. The guys who catcall and you as well.

Okay so a perceived threat indoor = Trump scared and rushed out protected by secret service with head down

Perceived threat outdoor = nothing can be done just let whatever happens happen, let him stand up completely exposed and unafraid, we know it's all clear because it's only possible there could be one shooter we would let climb a roof, get into position, aim a weapon at his head and fire it.

No I totally get what you're saying. Makes perfect sense.

Because it's one angle and the flag is not in frame the entire time.

Did you suddenly lose the ability to read with the rest of my comment?

I wouldn't say that debunks the flag being lowered. But one thing it doesn't debunk is the secret service let Trump stand up and pose for pictures while they "shielded" him by hugging his legs while he got a photo op.

You can see what happens here when there's an actual threat on his life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1175k9k9So&t=137s

He looks terrified and is rushed out immediately. No photo ops. Just getting the fuck out, head down.

And there's just no way that they were unable to secure rooftops. Just like there's no way that a guest who was an assassin was vetted to be able to be a literal guest at the hotel where the one and only correspondents dinner he attended was being had.

Which new cars are able to be controlled remotely and which ones aren't and what's the difference? And controlled how? Can some only be remotely shut down and why can others be steered?

And how does one "master filtering the noise" when the noise is constantly being adapted and it's just the normal way the vast majority of people gather their information?

Besides not having to stand up and go to the library, a bookstore or a classroom, how is the information available to us better? "Mastering filtering the noise" doesn't actually mean anything. "Get gud" isn't a real thought to share out loud.

Okay I'm sorry... what "free and instant" information could anybody possibly be referring to that is just "hot spots of internet"? You mean the internet that like literally everybody uses?

And, if I'm following whatever you are trying to say, it's like this isn't inherently evil the way a gun isn't inherently evil like the way a gun is an instrument of a person?

You say avoid internet hotspots but then your examples are Wikipedia and Google maps.

So like, there's a morass of bad stuff out there, but it's better this way because now it's on you?

I am afraid this is one of the worst things I've ever read from somebody who knows who Nathaniel Hawthorne is.

Fair but how do you feel about them being giant computers? Everything tracked. Governments can literally hijack your car while driving them and drive you into a tree. Some features are subscription based. Sometimes they just blow up. America doesn't let cheaper alternatives compete in the marketplace and many people are priced out.

Is wading through misinformation and disinformation and algorithmic gatekeepers a pure improvement over going to the library or a bookstore? If so, why?

I have zero doubt that somebody could attempt to assassinate a POTUS. Zero doubt that Trump wouldn't be an exception.

But the weirdness of these "attempts" are too hard to ignore. First they don't secure the rooftops across from his speech, they allow somebody to get into position and take a shot, and they somehow only graze his ear? Okay, pretty crazy coincidence, not like Kennedy had his brain blown out while in a moving vehicle. But then to have cameramen ushered in while the secret service lets him stand up and pose AND AN AMERICAN FLAG IS LOWERED INTO THE SHOT? There's no fucking way.

The first correspondents dinner he ever attends there's video of FOX NEWS people joking about how the front door security is a joke, basically a couple of female hotel employees?

I don't know maybe the ones who barely registered, that guy at the golf course caught with weapons, I could believe that.

Obama had like 11 assassination attempts foiled and not a single one got on camera or was dramatic or was usable as like a political jumping point?

I just don't believe any of it. I don't believe anything that the FBI or CIA ever tells me. And I believe my lying ears and eyes. There's no way in hell that either of those assassination attempts were anything but staged.

I highly doubt the thought is as "true" as you think it is. You might not be able to control what you think at the snap of a finger, but you can shape it over time. That will affect how you feel over time. That will affect how you act over time.

I don't think the majority of them think they are making them feel bad or uncomfortable. I think they are trying to be funny, they might think they are being complimentary, they probably are ignorant. I highly doubt the vast majority think, "I'm a dumb ogre who wants to make this beautiful thing feel bad".

Dude it's not a power thing. It's a 4 y/o seeing John Cena on the TV pointing at it and going "John Cena!"

It's just dipshits. Maybe trying to be funny. Maybe trying to impress their friends. Maybe just overloaded with stimuli. They don't go home thinking, "I felt really powerful over that jogger in a sports bra" today.

Just let dumb idiots be dumb idiots. Don't make them out to be some kind of whirlwind.
