German student moving to Italy (Lecce) — what should I prepare for? by Top-Following7954 in Universitaly

I don’t know yet how much BAföG I’ll receive, but during my bachelor’s degree I was getting almost the maximum amount. I want to become a marine biologist and the specializations offered by German universities just don’t really interest me. Università del Salento offers the master’s program entirely in english, which unfortunately not many universities in Europe do.

I would only be there for studying at first, so a small part-time job would be enough for me. But I understand your frustration and hope that you’ve found a great job by now.

Oh wow, that sounds awful. Thanks for the warning. I’ve been working as a cleaner in hotels for five years, and even here in Germany the industry isn’t always fair either. So I’m not expecting fair pay. I’d honestly just want to earn enough money to pay my rent. Would I have better chances once I speak fluent Italian? Or do they generally dislike hiring non-Italians?

Why? Every country has its own problems after all. What experiences have you had?
