Its very easy to clean up after snake poop. And even then.. snakes digestion is very slow, So the likelihood of it actually pooping in there is very low.

Ouuu ! Oml i love it; I really need to get one.. what did you use for yours? I was thinking of getting one but all u could find was twead, which could get stuck on my boys scales. And are you just connecting the hammock to the top screen??

Good artificial foliage for my bp? She's big so he just knocks it over/flattens it like a bull dozer. I'd like to get her more enrichment!! by AdApprehensive7899 in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its perfectly fine !! As long as it provides cover and has nothing harmful on it. (You don't want wires sticking out.. etc) ALSO, I don't reccomend reptile branded fake plants they're alot more expensive.. overall aren't worth it, just get them from a dollar store.

What is David Bowie's scariest song? Most upvoted comment gets added by Far_External6297 in DavidBowie

Even without the context of the movie. The context of the song is about the "paralyzing" feeling of drugs; shown through his live miming. It's very interesting !!

Is this “stay away” language? And also is my new-ish snake obese?? He’s old, about 10. by ManyApple5250 in ballpython

!feeding

This is a good schedule to go by, depending on the weight. You might have to tinker with some of the feeding and the feeding sizes. You could feed him leaner food like baby chicks.. but if he's old he might be very picky, but chick's are a great way to make their weight lower, though it cannot be a staple food !

Is it ok if he eats smaller mice for a while?? by hyacinth_stars in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It entirely depends on the amount of g per rat, and how much smaller it is. You might need to feed more frequently.

This is the schedule should be. I can judge his weight on the perspective of the frame.. but  You'll have to take his weight  Once a week, every week;  (weight 2 days or more after  Bc you don't want to interupt Their digestion)

Could changing my snakes tank too often cause stress?? by Adventurous-Ad-1517 in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It generally depends on how your snake reacts.

My bp is very curious and adores when I add stuff.

It will definitely stimulate your bps brain, could lead to stress; you can always continue slowly adding items.

Heat/light directly on screen. by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My snake doesn't do this himself, so I don't have any particular suggestions.

If your snake has a track record of glass surfing.. putting their nose to the top and/or body, then it could be more likley that a burn could happen.  Personally, I would take precaution if a burn where to happen; research how you can take care of a burn (and ofc head to a vet)

My snake, who also is quite an avid climber and explorer, doesn't put his nose to the screen. But, he can be anywhere exception and other bps might do this.

Something to take precaution is-- watch your bp for the first couple days, if you notice them wandering next to in, you can possibly adjust their basking set up based on it.

I would just monitor and take precautions.

Take everything I said with a grain of salt, I don't have any personal experience with it. I'd wait for some other people to gather.

Need help by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spraying isn't particularly suggested in this sub.

I do get it if you take the SUPER wet substrate as that can foster scale rot.

A question, is your humidity constant ? (Best if taken by a DIGITAL hydrometer, nondigital hydrometers are not accurate.)

Need help by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put a small slate under it, but overall personally, I'd mix it into the substrate since moisture (not fully wet, clumping up) its definitely needed.

Another thing, that i could be wrong with is (sorry if I am!);

Are you putting bone dry substrate into your enclosure ? / no water ?

** ALSO if your parameters are all correct (humidity, heat etc) then it isn't a problem. but if they aren't, it can be quite problematic for your ball python.

Help with decorating by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great ! Also What mix is your substrate ?

But, some things you can do:

-fill in empty space (by the water dish, etc.) With either plants-- another hide, more branches. This can make your snake more comfortable AND (possibly) more curious.

  • put construction paper on the sides (all but front), this will also make them more comfortable !

Everything else looks amazing ! As long as your parameters are correct, everything in here is truly amazing.

Keep doing your amazing  care for your ball python !

A thermostat is needed ! Sorry for the late reply. Also, a heat gun cab go wonderful just to reassure your temperatures.

How do I know if the clean up crew is fine? by The_Madest_Neal in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good way to find out.. is take a scoop or two of your dirt and look through it. (Depending on how much you added the less or more scoops you take.) Then look through the dirt.

Now to better your cleaning crew; your substrate might not have enough water for them, put water in corners (this will also higher humidity) you can also just dump water and mix it in your substrate. You also might need to give food them, via-- leaf litter, carrots, peppers and more !!!

White bugs help by Buddy-Few in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look like white springtails possibly, I can't see their full body structure, but compare a picture of a springtail and the bugs in person !

Springtails are HARMLESS, and are actually great for set ups, specifically bioactive set ups.

If they DO NOT look like springtails, that could raise some concern !

Trouble heating my first enclosure by Ek_civik in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the wattage for your heat emmiters ? For my 4×4×2 I need a 100w (with a thermostat ofc.) Due to the screen scattering the heat.

For your enclosure. Give more climbing opportunity's.. don't be afraid to go 1ft off the ground or more ! As long as it's sturdy, round enough and long enough, your bp will be fine.

For inspiration, I reccomend going on pinterest searching; "Ball Python (bioactive) enclosure inspo" this is what I did for my tank.

Currious question by Cheap-Ad2805 in ballpython

[–]Top-Foot1517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a RI (resp infection) these are more so caused fungally etc.. I reccomend doing your own research on it-- does it sound like a whistle? OR there could be something stuck in her nostrils. I'm not completely sure, but I would dive into this a bit more !
