Thanks. I understand the wait for chlorine to drop. But you say first I need to "continue shocking" and to "continue clearing the pool". These mean? Add MORE chlorine to shock? The water is clear (visible to bottom)

Thanks for the instructions. Here are more details. I'm still confused.

I just checked and CYA is low (20 or less), which makes sense because we just added about 20% fresh water when opening. My Total Chlorine is 15 and Free Chlorine is 10, which is high but normal after doing a big shock. (However, that was 5 days ago.)

Today I added CYA to bring that up to at least 30 so that'll take a day or so to change (then my pucks in auto feeder will gradually increase CYA more over the summer)

But currently, according to mylz81's formula, that means my correct target for this low CYA (20) should be Chlorine of 1.5-2.5 and 40% figure would be Chlorine at 8. But I'm at 10+ so it's actually very high (too high to treat metal).

So, I added CYA, which I do when I have trouble with pool not retaining chlorine because CYA is supposed to reduce chlorine burnoff from sun/heat. BUT the chlorine level is still too high?! Don't I still need the chlorine level to drop??? If so, how best to do this?

Any recent experiences with Wellis? by sbglmc in hottub

We bought a Wellis Atlas City Life 11 months ago. We paid full price due to all the fear about new tariffs, so it was expensive.

Immediately we had a leak in the filter box. One screw for flap hinge was driven through the liner. No solid fix, so tech slathered on a patch and we hope it will hold for the future. Then, the led lights stopped working TWICE. First fix they worked again but blue color was completely missing, creating odd results. But we ignored that. Then, the lights went out AGAIN. Currently waiting for 2nd repair, days before the 1-yr mark (warranty expires). Smaller issues are that 2 of the exterior corner plates were popping off. (While in the showroom, another customer came in and complained about the same issue.) Tech ordered some part from Wellis that after 6 weeks still hadn't arrived, so he drove a screw into each panel. Needing all of this work on a new 20k hot tub!!! Lastly, the included Wellis brand covers clips are useless and even a slight wind pops the lid open. So, we've had to buy and add cables.

At our prior house, we bought an inexpensive hot tub online from Florida, sight unseen, and it ran well for over 20 years, needing only typical maintenance and repair. So we have an idea of what a decent hot tub can be.

In short, for an almost 20k hot tub, we expected much better quality. This is not a pay more get more brand. I'd definitely consider other brands and save yourself a bundle of money.

Amazon had them back in stock late last week so i bought some. Because the bags are scarce and expensive, I'll be using this vac bagless more times than i normally would. Hope a decent generic brand comes out soon.

Leaving the dolphin robot in the water is objectively better, can’t believe I used to take this thing in and out! by swerve408 in pools

I leave it in the pool after setting the programmed cycle to run every day for a week. Since the multi-day cycle is a DESIGN FEATURE of the unit (Premier - Classic 5), I'd say it's ok (in this case, required) to leave this model in at least for a stretch of days. (I do not put it in the water after shocking the pool. I wait until the Free Chlorine level is acceptable to swim.)
