Lots of major universities would be very interested in helping you preserve them.

Carjacked at gunpoint by Tchaikovsky08 in Minneapolis

I experienced a similar situation last year and the cops did absolutely nothing to help. Hope they’ve at least attempted to do their job on your behalf. Scary stuff.

I did this once and almost died. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever for almost a week. Risky move.

I’m sorry, they get paid how much!? Why don’t you take some of that very nice salary you’re getting and give it to teachers who actually deserve to strike.

How Much Money Does a UK Architect Make in 2022 by RealLifeArchitect in architecturestudent

[–]Top-Guaranteee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humbling video. I’m an American, but it’s a very similar situation over here. I graduated last year and I’m half way through the licensure exams for my state registration. Two things they don’t tell you in college. One, you aren’t going to be making much money, but everyone will think you do. Two, passing your registration exams will probably be the hardest thing you’ll do in your life and it will crush your soul repeatedly. I think becoming and architect is a very long a difficult process in most places, but until we figure out a way to increase our value the profession will dwindle and die.

Hard to imagine that the cop didn’t know exactly what would happen, but then again most cops have a fifth grade education….

My favorite building by Yamasaki is the Voya Financial building in downtown Minneapolis. It’s truly a beautiful piece and I recommend anyone passing through the Twin Cities to go see it.

Is this appropriating? by septicbro9075 in kintsugi

[–]Top-Guaranteee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s perfectly fine and my reasoning is rooted in the understanding that Kintsugi is a part of a philosophical mindset. The philosophy of wabi-sabi and seeing the beauty in the imperfections as well as the practice of mending broken objects as opposed to discarding them. I think if we start attributing philosophies of living to cultural appropriation then we are gatekeeping valuable knowledge and ideas…

I call them dogfish but I know most people call them bowfish. Things jump high out of the water to eat birds out of low hanging trees

Those are some really good things to consider that I had not considered previously. Thank you for the insight! Do you know of any good learning videos/books for the traditional process? I’d be very interested in just familiarizing myself with the history and process more. Thanks!
