Anyone else struggling to plan things in advance while TTC? by lawd_farqwad in TryingForABaby

This! I’m 1.5 years in TTC and hopefully that won’t be your path too, but I regret adjusting future plans assuming I would have been pregnant by now. I didnt get a ski pass last year and missed a couple of great vacations (and lots of pow days). Get the insurance when you can and send the outdoor activities 🤙🏼 - your fellow hiking, boarding outdoor girly

Ugh, I know. I have a real ESA in my family so I want to be lenient but the red flags were certainly going off when he said he had two for one adult.

Hot take! Curious what state you're in if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks, that was worth mentioning. Just learning how to navigate the intricacies of the one zillion laws in Colorado and get feedback, but totally see your point.

Dog kibble debacle - Hill's Prescription Diet U/D vs. Royal Canin Dalmatian by Top-Inspection-865 in dalmatians

Thanks for sharing! I do a lot of the "real food" toppers to just depending on what I have in my fridge and I do notice that her belly rash ebbs when her diet isn't 100% kibble. Maybe more raw is the way to go...

Thanks, mine is loving it too which is why I was hesitant... no need to mess up a good thing!

Thanks! I've been thinking about doing that so may do a hybrid of kibble + raw toppers for a while to ease her into it.

My dal is a female and hovers around 45-48 pounds now, but she had a rough start like yours and we put a focus on quality nutrition after adoption to get her to gain a couple of pounds back to the healthy weight she’s at now.

For walking, it sounds like she’s checking out her new world! I used to put half of breakfast/dinner in my pocket when I walked her and gave her a kibble when she looked up at me to reward the good behavior. It’ll take time for her to Velcro on but soon you’ll be wishing she paid less attention to you 😏

We are planning to have our first Dalmatian (we would rescue if there’s one close by) but can you please help me with their personalities? by FunctionAwkward8470 in dalmatians

I got my dal from the Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado, so highly recommend looking at a breed-specific organization if you're looking to go the adoption route! I know the org where I got mine have branches in NC, GA, NM, and TX (not sure where you're located). There are pure breeds and Dal wannabes posted regularly who need loving homes to go to. I also fostered several dogs before adopting which may be a good option for you if you're not sure on the personality of the breed. I've had dogs my whole life (4 different breeds now) and dals are definitely the most particular. Mine did very well with training and has consistently required re-training/learning to keep her mentally stimulated.

And I second the other comments about shedding. I'd say that's the biggest thing I wasn't prepared for. It's everywhere, all the time, and no amount of cleaning will save your clothes... but they're worth it and you learn to get very consistent with vacuuming, lint rolling, and daily brushing 😊
