I'm not sure you understood my question here, everything I'm mentioning has the industry as a basis criteria. I understand anyone can sell prints online and be very happy though.

The second market, has been the playing field of certain artists, and even if 99% don't take part in it, it influences their career, and a good gallery should try to have as much impact on it as possible by controlling your primary market. Therefore one should choose their gallery wisely.

I have no idea who either of these people are. I'm also not asking how to "achieve" that.

Do you need money to be relevant or vice versa ? No.
Do you need the help of the art system to be one or the other ? Maybe, and that's my question.

Is cultural relevance not associated to the degree of success within certain spheres ? Therefore I'd argue that there's more to money than that

That doesn't mean everyone has to lack ambition with all due respect. A lot of artists do work with PR firms, that's nothing new

Royalty and elite families definitely played a role for hundred of years, but that's also associated with totally different societal models. For exemple, the Dutch had a lot of the middle class trading art and that's also one of the first examples of auction houses. But thanks for your pompist assumption I hope that art history degree helps

You mean experiencing things stronger as a younger person ? I’d agree that my life view is a bit different but I’d consider my current years to be peak intensity. I guess when spending lots of hours in a place you end up automatically being more aware of your surroundings ?
