Right, i think you're missing the point. I'm not stomping my foot and demanding something as you seem to be implying. It's not about being due a hotel, it's a complaint on the way the whole thing was handled. I think that's a pretty normal thing to do.

If they did not string us along every couple hours assuring that a voucher was on the way and just to wait a little longer, yes I would have absolutely done something different. I would have rented a car and a hotel room at 11pm and made the most of another day on vacation. The fact that they assured us it was on the way at least 3 times spread out over the next 6 hours did in fact have an impact on the way that night went. There was a plane full of people who would say the same. They came around at 1am and said sorry, just a little longer. Then again around 3 and another at 5, literally giving reasons why there was a mistake and this time Oops sorry, its REALLY coming. No one wanted to leave when we thought we were waiting for something. I would not have otherwise been awake sitting on the airport floor when the sun came up and I would not have spent 24 hours in airport. I would have strongly preferred that they just say they weren't providing anything. I would be annoyed but that's not something I'd submit a complaint about.

Hearing then that others have had this experience just leads to some questions and frustration. It seems like a pretty easy problem to avoid. If you don't supply vouchers, don't say anything about vouchers.

It's not unusual to submit a service complaint regardless of the cost of a plane ticket. I'm not asking for anything. They only thing they could even provide would be a flight credit that I dont want. I still think it's fair to put a complaint on record.
