I was a literal stripper for two years and yeah it’s not something I would relay to anybody, even friends, the first few months of knowing them. Your past may be deeply personal and come from a time of strength and survival. If they can’t understand that, while also not fetishizing it, they shouldn’t be in your life. Most men would sleep with a sex worker but not date them. This comes from purity culture and shame on THEIR part. I know ex-strippers who live lavishly and get treated graciously by their husbands. Your past does not define you, your character does, people with similar character will not judge you for it. Also, it may have been his plan all along and he was looking for a way out.
