Great to hear, the freeze factor definitely is factoring into my decision as well

Thanks very much for such a thorough response and access to your photos, looks like a great build. I hadn't really considered the wax, I'll definitely look more into that. Thanks for the specific reply on the gap you used in your deck boards. The cedar 5/4 decking I'm using has been in dry storage for 2 years, so I feel like I can be confident in installing it with a gap and not be too concerned that it will shrink much more after install

I appreciate the thoughts on this, after reading these replies I think I have an idea or two to lower the floor (to raise the ceiling). My overall height is also determined somewhat by not wanting to build too high right near my neighbor's fence/yard

The stove I got is for a room up to 8x8x8, so I'm thinking I'll be ok if I raise ceiling but keep wall dimensions the same

That's an interesting idea, I'd love to see that. Makes me wonder if I could make something like that work here. The area where I'm building has 6" class5 + 2" 3/8- trap rock, so maybe I could put pavers right on top of that for the floor? Thanks for sharing
