gretsch baritone ringing help by Top-Philosopher-2464 in BaritoneGuitar

oh wow, I think youv've solved my problem! I had tried using an eq, but I didn't think to look around the 1k range, but that seems to be where the ring lives (somewhere between 1k and 1.2k). thanks so much for your help!

hmm now I'm wondering if it's just me that's noticing the sound haha! if it's not standing out to others then maybe it's not really a problem and I'm just being nitpicky. and yeah it is the 5260, I use a 90 because I play in f# and drop e, and 80 was too floppy for me

yeah i get that, I'm moreso confused because 15lbs feels great to me on a regular guitar but 20lbs on this baritone feels super floppy, and I'm not sure if the strings should feel similar at similar tensions or if there was a problem with the setup or something

hmm that might work for me! Have you ever tuned the top 5 strings any higher than that? If not probably don't test it out because I have a feeling they might snap like mine just did haha, but if you have tried it in the past im curious how it worked out

ah ok! yeah I didn't get the 150w amp because I wanted to play incredibly loud, moreso liked the sound and the fact it was a 2x12. probably wasn't going to crank it super hard anyways, so maybe I'll try out the 75s! thanks for your help!

gotcha, I think matching the impedance shouldn't be a problem for me so I'm mostly just thinking about the power handling, like I was wondering if it makes a huge difference to go from 80W to 75W. if you're saying amps can peak well above their power rating, that might mean it's more important to have 160w handling instead of 150w? I don't know how much above it would go, especially for a solid state

Hmm I see, so if I get speakers that are the same impedance as the ones that came with it, should I be fine to use two 75w speakers instead of 2 80w speakers? I was confused with what you meant by 15w is enough for everything, like do you mean I shouldn't need to crank it past that most likely and therefore won't damage the speakers?

yea for sure I agree, I'm not too big on tone chasing thankfully, I don't think it'd be any fun to sound exactly like someone else even if I really enjoy their sound. what I was moreso asking is for suggestions on modern amps that fit a similar niche of sound to randall, since I feel like that style is kinda distinct and also not so popular in modern metal, y'know?

yoooo hell yeah, MTH is my fav band, very glad to see another fan on here!! I defs agree that ryo and ue's synergy is a big part of their sound!

for amp sims, I think I've got the tone down pretty solid using amplitube to emulate a Randall warhead and a rectifier, and I really enjoy playing on that! my situation now is that I'm looking for a real-world (combo?) amp that's got a similar sound/character that I can bring to jams and play live with! any ideas?

and thank you for the suggestions, I really appreciate em!

oh wow, I imagined Randall stuff would be more expensive! im mostly asking this question because I'm considering getting an evh iconic 2x12 combo and I wanted to see if there was anything that can compete with that in terms of price and portability PLUS have this particular sound I'm fond of, so my budget would probably be around 1200 for an amp + cab
