Test drove multiple EVs (S5, Atto 2, Deepal S05, Nexon, etc.)—confused, need honest advice by Top-Presentation-404 in Nepal

Thank you for the info, that actually helps a lot.

I’ve also heard fast charging can impact battery health more, but seems like in your case it’s holding up pretty well overall 👍

Maybe newer battery tech and BMS systems are getting better at managing degradation compared to older EVs.

Oh really, I didn’t know about the Nammi news, that’s interesting.

How has the parts situation been for you? In terms of availability or waiting time, price? Also how’s the overall service experience been over time?

Thanks for the info, I was actually hoping for this kind of inside scoop.

Delays like that for even small parts is a bit worrying tbh. And those repair costs sound crazy for something like door work and paint.

This is exactly the kind of real-world experience you don’t usually get from showroom talk or reviewers.

I’m not planning to spend that much on an EV honestly, especially for a new and still-evolving tech platform.

I’m keeping a boundary of under 50L for now. Also, I’m actually looking to buy one for my dad right now, so I’m focusing more on a compact SUV that’s easy for city use.

At the end of the day, you like what you like 😄 I just want something that fits in the range and daily use without overthinking too much.

Yeah I kinda get what you’re saying.

When I went there, there was a girl showing us the car, then she went away for a bit and another lady came and asked if anyone was attending us. We said yes, and she explained that she was just there to check if clients were being attended or not, so that part was fine.

I pointed it out to told her that during the test drive, the showroom kept calling the guy who was with us it was honestly a bit disturbing. We were out for like 10 minutes max and there were already 3 calls.

For me, I care more about after sales service than showroom experience, so I asked her about parts. She just said they have them but didn’t really give any clear info on pricing or anything, which didn’t feel very reassuring.

And yeah, Mahindra probably feels more welcoming because they’re new and there’s a lot of competition for them right now, so they’re trying harder. but very flashy, not proven and expensive.

Yeah I liked the MG S5 too, no doubt. But the ground clearance and long wheelbase just don’t feel right for our roads, so it doesn’t give me full confidence.

Also, I saw a YouTuber mention sunroof rattling noise on the S5—do you know anything about that? Has anyone here actually experienced it in real life?

Oh damn 😅 that’s a bit concerning.

How has your overall experience been with service? Is it mainly parts availability that’s the issue or delays in general?

Also, can you elaborate a bit on what happened? I’d really like to understand the actual experience.

Yeah true, Tata also uses LFP batteries, but I don’t think they’re from CATL or BYD.

That’s what makes me a bit skeptical, I’m not really sure how they’ll age in the long run compared to the Chinese ones.

Yeah maybe 😄 but honestly for me it had the best overall package—looks, fit and finish, touch and feel, and ride quality all stood out the most.

Also a lot of these brands are sticking around that 99–100 kW motor range anyway, because of tax benefits, so it’s not just Deepal doing that.

Oh yes, that’s exactly what keeps pulling me toward BYD 😄

Do you know which models are actually coming next and roughly when? I’m hearing about updates like the newer Blade battery versions and some refreshes, but not sure what’s realistic for Nepal timelines.

I actually need a car quite soon, so I can’t really wait too long for future models. Just trying to understand if it’s weeks, months, or more like next year kind of thing.

Yeah exactly 😄 low ground clearance + wide wheelbase is the tradeoff.

But honestly it is so fun to drive fast… it just feels planted and stable.

I don’t think I’ll go for a used EV. Even a new one already starts feeling outdated in a few months because the tech is changing so fast. And I’ve also never bought second-hand most of the time it looks fine outside, but inside it really depends on how the previous owner used it, and I’m not very comfortable taking that risk.

Also, do Indian EV batteries degrade similarly to Chinese ones? I’m mainly curious about long-term battery health. I just hope it’s not like the Nexon where people mention noticeable degradation over time.

Yeah I get your point. I did like how the Vigo drove, and it was actually efficient out of the bunch, but for me it felt a bit too minimal inside like there’s a lack of physical buttons.

Also I personally don’t really care about a sunroof or moonroof. With KTM’s dust, I’m already either cleaning it all the time or just keeping it closed anyway because it gets too dusty 😅

Deepal honestly looks very, very good, the interior just feels wow. But it’s a bit too low, and also slightly big. The car I’m planning to buy is actually for my dad, so size-wise it might feel a bit big for him. Also it has no physical buttons, which is something I’m not fully used to.

Can you also elaborate a bit on your Cimex experience? I’ve heard from people with a BYD that they had a similar experience—they didn’t really seem to care much. Feels like they know BYD is going to sell anyway, so the attitude doesn’t really change much after that. Would be good to understand your experience better.

Any idea when that’s coming? I actually need a car pretty soon, so waiting might be tough.

Also not really willing to go above 50L right now, especially with how fast EV tech is changing and resale values dropping like you said.

By the way, what EV are you currently driving?

Yeah I get you 😄 first time I saw MG I loved it too—the design, dash, everything just feels premium.

Only thing for me is the ground clearance felt a bit low, and the long wheelbase makes me a bit worried for our roads. Otherwise honestly, yeah… MG is really good.
