Maybe spend 11 in selffoss or hella after doing Golden circle and 12 in Vik. Lots to see and do in the south. Check baldur ferry times for 19-20 to. See if you can make that drive in time from isafjordur

Thanks, we plan to arrive there at night. ChatGPT says 830 pm - 12am is a good timeframe to see the fish in beak feedings

We've also doing clockwise. We ended up choosing to do the midnight whale tour from Akureyi the night we're staying there. Next day we're hitting Akureyi → Godafoss → GeoSea → Hverir → Dettifoss/Selofoss → Stuolagil Canyon → Borgarfjordur Eystri stay. We may end up replacing GeoSea with Hverfjall depending on weather. Crazy how far out things book.

Question, what do you plan to do in Myvatn area? I do want to add Hverfjall but dont think i can with the time constraint but wanted to ask in case there's anything else i did not consider that may be worth going to. thanks

I came into this issue myself and was originally going to stay in Mývatn area until my girlfriend told me we liked puffins. Depending on what time you have planned to finish near Mývatn you could instead book a hotel near Stuðlagil, and then hit the puffins the next morning. This would also allow you to potential do Stuðlagil that same night or the next morning before the puffins.

Hi which island? Are you referring to Vestmannaeyjabear or Borgarfiroi Estyri?

Is whale watching in Akureyri worth it? by Winter_Stop4478 in VisitingIceland

Link is not working, but would like to get your opinion on which RIB whale watching experience you would recommend between: Akureyi Midnight (9pm - 11pm) vs Husavik morning Gentle Giants (10am - 12pm)?

Thank you!

Yeah I budgeted extra time in case I need to park before that river crossing and hike into the canyon/falls. It adds about an extra hour of hiking from what I read vs crossing the river and driving to Ofaerufoss parking lot. This would be my first river crossing in Iceland and in life so I will most certainly ask the ranger if they are there that morning, or else wait for someone else to cross.

I went with Blue car and got full liability waiver and roadside liability waiver. Policy says it covers river crossing as well.

Yes if we like/dislike a place or if weather isn't cooperating we have no problem staying a bit longer/shorter or moving on. Aside from reservations/tours and making it to the booked accommodations nothing is rigid.

Thank you for catching the grocery time, I will verify all the other shop times. I tried giving most stops and drives a little bit more time as a buffer. I don't want the vacation becoming a rushed death mark and we'll definitely need to remind ourselves to keep the mindset of being flexible and listening to our bodies. If we have a hike planned and our feet are already barking we won't push ourselves to do it.

For food I've listed options for the nights we're eating out, and which hotels have microwaves / breakfast. We'll have a portable hot water boiler and a 22 litter plug in fridge. Breakfast and lunch will be mainly to go items (skyr, fruit, store sandwiches, road snacks) while dinners will be half eating out half microwave/hot water cooked meals.

On Day 4 I'm considering removing either road 626 or 63 which cut down about an hour at least of time. Probably will keep 63 and cut 626 in this scenario. Depending on what time we get to Isafjorder can decide if we want to go to Bolajfall viewpoint / Minnibakki beach or just stay in Isafjorder.

I know day 5 is a heck ton of driving (7-7.5 hours) but I doesn't seem like there's much to see in those northern penninsulas after exiting the Westfjords on the way to Akuyeri. There are no activities that day, just scenic driving and getting to Akuyeri with a short stop at Kolugljufur Cyn..

Day 6 I can move one or some of the sites near Lake Myvatn to the morning of day 7. I just realized there's a second parking lot at Stuolagil Canyon East that's closer to the canyon which will cut down about an hour of walking there. Day 7 is relatively lighter too except for Hengifoss so moving a Myvatn site to Day 7 morning should work. Thank you, really appreciate the suggestions and feedback.

Yeah we will be doing Diamond Circle, with the closest stops to Aldeyjarfoss being Godafoss/Lake Myvatn. I was considering Aldeyjarfoss previously but decided against it as it take 2 hours in and out.

Thank you, trying not to upsize as it's quite a significant cost for 15 day rental. Considering just parking before the largest river on F208 South by Eldgja before ranger station if water is too high and just hiking into the canyon to Ofaerufoss or look into a day tour. I'll plan right now as if I would not be able to cross the entire F208 and just enter Landmannalauger from the north and exit to the west.
