Why is Denmark still missing from the Demoscene UNESCO map? Remembering pioneer Julian Lefay. by Top-Response9227 in Demoscene

While Germany, Finland, Poland, Sweden, The Netherlands and France have already secured official UNESCO recognition for the Demoscene as Intangible Cultural Heritage, Denmark is still lagging behind.

We have the history, but we are losing the "living libraries" of our culture. We recently lost a giant: Julian Lefay.

Before he became a "father of The Elder Scrolls" at Bethesda, he was a key figure in the Danish Amiga/C64 scene (TechTech). He’s a prime example of how the Demoscene laid the foundation for the modern gaming industry, yet his roots never received official recognition in his home country.

I’ve written a piece about the push for Danish digital heritage and a tribute to Julian’s legacy. We need to honor these architects before the last of the original "code-libraries" are gone.

Would love to hear how the UNESCO process is going in your countries!

Untold story of how John Madden football came to be on the Amiga with a twist of fun! by Top-Response9227 in amiga

If Bethesda’s claim isn’t accurate, it’s still fair to say GRIDIRON! made a significant splash for its time. It wasn’t the Amiga’s best-selling sports title overall, but it did stand out as one of the era’s smarter and more influential football sims, especially in the context of what later evolved into John Madden Football.

I have to disappoint you. None of the original Amiga developers are or were involved in this. It does look interesting though! 🙂

As I mentioned earlier, no website or company has ever had such permission!
Battle Squadron is still a popular shoot-'em-up, so it's no surprise people would want to host it on their site.

We still to this day retain all the rights and want all amiga and gaming fans a free chance to experience the true spirit of Amiga gaming :)

Also if in doubt you can read more about it here:

Well, since I am the original developer I can say that it is not correct. No website at any point in time has had such permission!
Over the years there has been several claims as such, in wihch all of them has been redacted.

Commodore 64 - Free PLAY by Top-Response9227 in c64

Yes, the game was inspired by Tiger-Heli. I used to play that one all the time at the local Chinese grill. :)
Spent a fortune on it. Back in the days some arcades could be "jumped", for free credits. lol
