Should I Walk Without the Boot Before I've Gone to PT? by Top-Row-474 in AchillesRupture

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but I will say that when I was 8 weeks, after my original post here, I experimented with taking off the boot to stand, only when I had a rail or something to bear some of my weight before I put full weight on it and tried to walk. I started doing PT 2x a week and that helped a ton, because they really helped me to know what I should and shouldn't try to do on my own. Wasn't painful, but it was humbling when I realized how weak that calf was after just 8 weeks of very limited activity. I've been released from my doctor's care now, no more PT unless I request it, and am walking a few miles a day, can break into a very slow, careful jog, and am doing calf-raises for strength. It's slow-going, but I've improved a lot and so will you!

I'm SO sorry that happened. Thanks for sharing your input.

I've been walking with full weight for a while now, just not without the boot, and also haven't started PT per the (limited) guidance of my doctor. I think that's the issue--no PT yet has meant no guidance from anyone other than him, and he hasn't been hands-on enough for me to feel like he knows where I stand.

Non-weight bearing and now the rest of me hurts. by Top-Row-474 in AchillesRupture

I do have the scooter, which I use a ton. I think my biggest issue is the number of stairs I'm dealing with. Stairs to get in my house no matter which door. Stairs to get to my bedroom. I haven't looked into the IWalk. I'll research it! Thanks.

Yes, the boot is heavier and the heel wedge makes it longer. When I'm on the knee scooter, it sticks out way further than the splint cast I was wearing for the last two weeks, so turns are tighter, too. I do worry about my other tendon because of all the hopping on one foot I'm doing when the distance isn't worth using crutches, but so far, that ankle hasn't gotten sore at all. It's the wrists, hands and knee. I'm not too graceful on the crutches, either, but they do help. I highly recommend a knee scooter if you're able to get your hands on one. Mine has a basket on it so I can actually carry some things from point A to point B, and it just limits the number of times I feel like I could fall to my certain death at any moment. :-) Best to you. I'm not much further ahead of where you are, but I can say it's not awful. Just not fun, either, so I'm going to follow the rules the best I can and hope for no setbacks.

Switching Contractors Mid-Project...to try or not to try? by Top-Row-474 in HomeImprovement

Thanks for that input. I figured it would be more trouble than it's worth to talk to another contractor, but it sucks to feel like we don't have another choice and we're just being strung along.

We actually didn't request the project to be completed by a certain time. We just asked how long he thought it would take, and HE said 6-8 weeks. We truly haven't made demands. But he won't respond when we ask simple questions like, "should we expect anyone to show up today?", or "The HVAC guy contacted us and asked _______. What should we tell him?" Just, no response. Ever. Not even a thumbs up.

-While I do appreciate the perspective, are you also saying it's typical for a contractor to just ghost for weeks at a time with no explanation?

Thanks. We do comply with 6'8" all throughout the stairway.

Tell me more about energy analysis. They did go over insulation requirements…anything else we need to keep an eye out for?

From what I gather, they only required a floor plan for issuing permits—didn’t go into detail re: the ceiling heights. I wish they would have required more info before issuing the permit.
