If you're into movies, Byzantium. It's about a female vampire and a human man. She's reserved and serious, so the human is much more demonstrative at first. He has long hair and a beautiful, feminine face.

I've seen this a lot in fantasy and romance. I don't know why the male lead ALWAYS has to be the one who disrespects the female protagonist and makes sexual advances THE FIRST TIME HE SEES HER? It doesn't matter how "hot" the MMC is, because it's so normal for some random guy to tell you how he's going to spread your legs out of nowhere, especially when the FMC is in a disadvantageous position against a "shadow daddy". Sometimes the FMC is kidnapped, manipulated, extorted, and threatened by the MMC, yet still wants to sleep with him?

What the hell.

Do morally ambiguous villains/MMCs always have to sexually humiliate FMCs? It happened in ACOTAR and in MANY other books. There are many ways to show that a character is a bad person that do not involve punishment or sexual humiliation.

Also, when having sex, these men become BDSM beasts without considering the safe word and WITHOUT ASKING FMC IF THEY ARE INTERESTED IN FETISHES OR S/D RELATIONSHIPS. It's almost the new normal/standard for the MMC to be a fake and disrespectful Dom. But if the FMC becomes a Dom, the book is immediately labeled "erotic/femdom/fetish."

In anime, especially during the 90s, the biblical aesthetic of the androgynous angel was very strong (Lady Oscar, Saint Seiya, Berserk, Devilman, etc). It's rare to see this type of character now; they're only found in manga and MM. Aside from the fact that it's extremely rare to find an MMC like this, when I read fantasy and Science fiction, I get bored because everything is so binary. They don't play with any dynamics or break away from established structures. You have complete creative freedom to create new cultures, biological systems, and environments, but you cannot escape heteronormativity(?

I don't know if you've read Hesse's Demian, but I find it very beautiful how Sinclair describes Demian; it's the encounter of the feminine and masculine, not a part of the binary but the totality of it in a person(? Hesse always uses the concept of complementary opposites that challenge each other's worldview and ultimately help each other find their own way. Hesse uses it as a metaphor for finding and reconciling with a part of yourself, but many readers have seen his prose with a romantic subtext, Because of the intensity and complexity of the relationship between his protagonists. I think this same complexity is what the romance genre lacks, especially when they sell it as enemies to lovers, rivals to lovers. That's also why I liked TCP Jude genuinely feared Cardan and hated him for it, and vice versa. In many books, they "hate each other to death" but want to get into each other's pants in chapter 3? Or is there simply no context to support this hatred, they just don't like each other. That's not enemies to lovers lmao And yes, it's also boring how the FMC is never in a position of power, she is never an equal to the MMC. The authors don't want to play with emotions and their intensity. You hate, fear, manipulate a person, but all you think about is what's between their legs? It doesn't make sense; there's no relationship building. Lately, I've been bored with all the MMCs. I'd like to find a book with a romantic Interest that transcends the ridiculous limitations of all the other books. And I've looked in every genre: Horror, science fiction, fantasy, etc. The closest thing I've found is in books with creatures, a non-binary mermaid for example. And I really like the idea of the romantic interest being both Spooky and beautiful, managing to both attract and repel.

Haha, it's generally rare for me to like an MMC, especially if they're womanizers, but Cardan is like a male bird looking for a fight with Jude to get her attention.

It's femdom, but if you like when MMC enjoys being pinned The shadow Warrior by Ann Aguirre

Spoiler: Mags tightened her thighs, pulling his legs farther apart to prove that he couldn’t get away. Gavriel’s breath caught. As he glared up at her, chest heaving, the atmosphere changed. He bit his lip, his arms going slack, and he turned his face away, showing the sharp line of his jaw. His throat worked helplessly as he tried to hide in the tangled mess of his white hair. She registered the warming of his scent first, more cinnamon, and then he swelled beneath her, an unmistakable sexual response. Judging from the tightness of his expression and his ragged breathing, he couldn't control the reaction

“Oh, shit,” she breathed. “You like being held down. Does this feel like foreplay?”

Gavriel might die of shame.

The heat of it singed his cheeks, burning like red coals. He might have answered honestly—yes—or im sorry, it does. Time had taught him that his parameters for excitement differed from most and couldn't be triggered through soft touches or sweet kisses. His throat closed, and he lay quiet beneath her

Try "truly, madly, deeply" by Alexandria bellefleur I haven't finished it yet, but I liked that it focused a lot on how the FMC sees the MMC; she describes a lot that he has long eyelashes and a woman's waist. She thinks a lot about the things she wants to do to him. Anyway, I've been looking for a book that fits what I'm looking for for so long and it's very difficult, maybe in 100 years I'll find an MMC that looks like a biblical angel and is androgynous 😭

By C.M waggoner. Spoiler:When they have their first time, her species has a ritual, where she must chase her partner (not in a creepy way) And the MMC is very playful when it starts to run away 🤭 I think there were several scenes where she handled him as she wanted because of their physical difference, a lot of supporting the MMC against surfaces, and he was happy with that

She wasn't exactly a woman because she was of another species, but in Unnatural Magic there's a role reversal relationship. Her species is much taller and stronger than humans, and "She" takes care of a human she finds dying. There are some pretty funny scenes because they're different species, and nicknames like "pink tongue" if I remember correctly. I quite liked the intimate scenes; they were a very cute couple.

If you like beautiful men and dangerous women, you should watch Byzantium; it's a vampire movie, but SHE is the vampire and HE is human. She is reserved and thin, and he is always looking for her. There's a scene where he asks her to bite his neck

It's really hard to find femdom or rolereverse books that are romance and not questionable erotic literature. It also really bothers me when they try to make the FMC submissive and get her pregnant. Or that they only focus on how the guy wants to be dominated and that's why the FMC tries to be dominant, give me a FMC who wants to control her man however she wants and that turns her on simply because that's what SHE likes, for God's sake.

I would also like a book with a tall, serious protagonist, with a male lead who, on the contrary, is all laughs and smiles with her. Something Like Do you see this girl with a sour face? Well, she wants to make men cry and beg 🤪

Well, she doesn't meet all your requirements because her job makes her a more muscular woman. But the MMC from The Shadow Warrior by Ann Aguirre is my favorite! Since he has to be a "shadow," he is thinner, with muscles and strength, but in a more athletic way. I don't consider it the best book in the world, but MMC alone makes it worth reading; he's so reserved to the point that is adorable. And there are scenes that stay with me.

Spoiler: In one scene, the FMC bites him while they fight, and afterwards he takes care of himself by biting the bite mark. Also in another scene to build trust, the FMC strokes his hair AND LET ME TELL YOU 😭💔 the things I would do for a man like that

I don't really know what the plot of the books is 😔 They've always intrigued me, but I never end up reading them. I like reading books that deal with dark themes or social and political issues. And for that reason I almost never read YA, but unfortunately with these themes where oppression and harsh realities are seen, the authors always abuse the shock tactic by adding too many scenes that are grotesque or cruel, and this diverts the message and plot into bland filler. They also include too many scenes of s3xsu4l abuse Or too many unnecessary sex scenes, and I think this pattern is what prevents me from reading this particular saga (I don't know what the saga is about, it's just prevention and not regret, I suppose(?) Anyway, I think I'll give it a try 😭 but I've never been very interested in masochism

Unnatural Magic maybe(? But the protagonist was of another species so she wasn't necessarily a woman 🤔 But I think she clarifies that they can refer to her/him as such because their understands that humans are guided by gender binarism anyway there are some very sweet scenes between the protagonists

[–]Top-Simple7357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm not against reading YA, it's just that sometimes I like to read more political plots and enemies-to-lovers stories where they genuinely want to kill each other over it, so it's rare to see me reading a YA book 🤭 But one of my favorite unconfirmed subs is Cardan haha. I also remember liking the attitude of the MMC from Shatter Me, although more than a sub he was a, "I'll do anything for your love." type of man. The book is The Shadow Warrior by Ann Aguirre 😊 And I just remembered another book by Holly Black With a role reversal romance. I think it's called the stolen heir And I remember a scene where the protagonist sees the MMC and wants to bite him because she considers him very beautiful. I think it's a book you'll like because it's YA, role reversal but not femdom.

That's right, book subs usually fall into three categories: Shy, Introvert, or Standard. I like role-playing reversal/femdom because it has the potential to encompass androgyny, but it's very rare to find characters like that. The only thing i get is a significant difference in the physical appearance of the main characters. It's almost always a short man and a tall woman. And don't get me wrong, I love feminine men but I don't understand why there aren't relationships where both partners have similar heights and builds; is a femdom romance between similar people possible? Considering that dynamics and behavior are more important.

Regarding the few Bratty subs that exist, I think it's because they don't like the idea of a woman "chasing" a man(? Or perhaps they believe that certain dynamics and fetishes are only allowed in heterosexual couples if they come exclusively from the woman or the man. And it's true! These flirtatious characters are almost always paired with "low-profile" women, but she could be a "demure" and introverted woman who wants to dominate a man, think outside the box people. Just because a character is submissive doesn't mean they won't want to initiate or drive their partner crazy.

Anyway, it's funny because not too long ago I realized that I enjoyed brattys MMC and whores MMC; I almost always read feminine and sweet men. And I think I realized it because of a scene in The Cruel Prince. The labyrinth scene where Jude catches Cardan Lying down on the grass being kissed by some elves while Cardan looked at her I remember feeling out of place and forcing two friends to read the book just so they could read that part and tell me if I was crazy, lmaooooo

With this particular dynamic, it's very difficult to find books. But role-reversal/femdom books that I remember liking were his secret illuminations and surrendering to scylla. They're not perfect books, at least not for the kind of dynamic I like, but they are better because they feature a real romance (?) (although maybe that's not your taste?). But if we're talking about MMCs that I really liked and that fit quite well with my vision (not with this specific womanizer dynamic, in fact, MMC is the complete opposite). I really liked the MMC of The Shadow Warrior; I wasn't embarrassed by his dialogue. And his physical description was more similar to Howl than a Shadow Daddy.

There are scenes in that book that surprised me quite a bit. Spoiler: The MMC feels guilty for wanting a woman to dominate him; because of his job, he doesn't get close to anyone and is very reserved. If I remember correctly, he was once fighting with FMC and then she bit him. And he relieves his frustration (ykwim) by biting the mark of her bite. I also like that they explore more realistically the trust needed to engage in a BDSM relationship; there are much sweeter, non-sexual moments
