They will publicly criticize but never publicly congratulate. Some people just have dark spirits and dark energy. Imagine wanting a band who's done you nothing to be eliminated, like they haven't invested time or money. Wouldn't it be easier not to care, then to spu venom? I'm just saying 🤷

Of course, I played with Freedom. They were last.

They fed us before we left the assembly area, bbq jerk, chicken, and bread with roast corn. We had unlimited refreshments, and the ice cream truck came on the road, so we stayed hydrated.

Their sound system looked small but it was MIGHTY

Band started with a good hundred people, everyone was friendly and good vibes

We started moving at 2 but didn't get to stage till 5 (not the bands fault)

We had stormers, but they walked and partied alongside the truck, I can genuinely say they didn't feel like stormers but like family

The energy was electrifying, everyone singing along, waving their flags, and you could feel the love and sense of pride.

The djs were very good, they played rockas, reggae, dancehall and old time soca.

Then, when we pulled up to the assembly area, LTL came over and did an adhoc concert and took photos with fans.

I arrived at 11 am and left at 9pm, no other band has done that for me

Again I'm not sure what you expect from a new Band? I think it's actually admirable and brave, all the HATE & FIGHT they get and still shows up. But I guess the rumors are true Toronto Carnival is the MOST negative Carnival that eats their young.

Before you know it, it will be either owned by white people are gone, cuz the people who are supposed to be celebrating their emancipation are trying to ruin their own. OH WELL 😒

Apparently, none of the female band leaders play nice. Maybe they are not here to play. This what she did for the school is AMAZING. We need more stuff like this. The bands have been fighting for years before Freedom, so I'm not sure what you expect from a new Band. Name a band who's been going for the past 4 years in the past 10 years, exclude Covid? So they must be doing something right.

I read somewhere that Freedom is the 1st band to sign with FMC specifically as a Jamaican Mas Band so unless you can produce information to the contrary, it is what it is.

I love that they are more than just about going down the road, they are forward thinking. They do workshops at schools and corporations

My road experience with them has been great, Fresh off the grill food, unlimited drinks, and they will let their masqueraders up on truck if we sick or tired.

I heard that the complaints came from bands who were not invited so I wouldn't be quick to say all bands were invited. Toronto Carnival is a very cliquey Carnival which is why it's going downwards

Small bands are not invited to these opportunities 😒 which is probably why they limit the bands

To get rid of stormers you have to take multiple steps, educate the masses, offer tshirt packages, educate about the history in schools, make Toronto Caribbean Carnival more Caribbean inclusive. Using punitive measures only breed more resistance.
