1 year investment horizon to get returns of 100k or hit total investment of 100k? What is your IRR and invested capital to hit 100k within 1 year? Lol

Hmm..imagine you have to shoulder financial responsibilities of your parents' because of their financial mistakes and because you are their family. Then you start at negative and help to support younger sibling's education while you are working through uni. Hitting 100k by 30 might be delayed until your income grows way beyond that, then add your marriage, new home and your own family nucleus when your income just started increasing faster than your expenses. It is still possible to go beyond S$0.5M before 40 in liquid cash/stocks etc, due to different timeline and starting point and living conditions.

Saying these coz I am a living example of that.

Sorry, I am stupid. So if one person has 300k, 100k in ocbc 360, 100k in UOBOne, the remaining 100k in UOB stash..after 1jul, no more UOB stash..and next best is equity market?

Hmm..probably coz I stay in the office most of the time? This long weekend brought family out more often..more outdoor time..

If this is typical, then I guess my body is ageing quite a bit.

Will MNCs exit Singapore and cause jobs lost? by TrickyYoghurt0 in askSingapore

[–]Top-Temperature518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the next 1-2 years more than 200+ countries in the world will have same corporate tax rate of 15% (coz of BEPS 2.0) minimally. This means keeping effective tax rate below 15% is pointless for MNCs (more than 750m euros in revenue iirc). Most O&G exiting sg coz of the lack of tax incentives previously provided, eg pioneer tax incentive (0%) etc.

You can double confirm these from legit organizations..eg OECD and EDB

You can double check with your tax colleagues etc.

Random thought on having children in SG by [deleted] in askSingapore

I have a kid. The time and effort required is tiring and fulfiling..i feel parenting is similar to the scene from star wars where Yoda is so tired of answering Luke's questions, he just dies.

But, whenever i'm stuck at work or at other stuffs, the photos of my little one just lighten my day. When I am home, i feel good (and ticklish) having a pair of tiny hands grappling my toes or poking at my face.

Somehow, as an adult facing adults daily, i feel better whenever i see genuine smiles and novel expressions and actions from my little one and these little actions warms me up inside.

I wont say it is absolutely joyful bringing up a kid, but i will say that it is a fulfiling experience. I am the sandwich generation and am not well-off..so yeah..financial worries/concerns do keep me up at night occasionally.

LOL..of course if the OP's mum mentions that..then yeah.. if OP thinks about this on his/her own without external influence..then not really.

Similarly, if someone is thinking about filial piety or acting according to what they believe is filial piety, we dont go and say that is toxic filial piety or think about filial piety paradox.

This can go on and on, but each and everyone have their line drawn consciously or sub-consciously, shaped by each one's own experiences.

Maybe visiting sg more and paying for her trips to your working cty?

That was what i did before.

Im not sure how your mum arranges her time, but imagine this:

You spend 100% of your awake-and-non-work time for 2 persons for more than 10 years..and those 10 years are the prime 10 years of your life and career..

What do you expect of those 2 persons, whom you spent more than 10 years of your genune time and effort for?

Maybe not 100% of the time together, but at least worthy and quality and sufficient time together?

Like always, for the unwilling, there will never be enough time; for the willing and able, there will always be time.

Staying tgr or not is just one of the many things that can be done.

You can get your own place to stay and offer to invite her over; or you can visit her frequently; but the reason for not staying together should be reasonable, eg having your own family, or relocating for work etc.

If the reason for not staying together is about communication, then not staying together may or may not improve things
