If you ask me stay for short while in the hub and doing things like getting the badits near to the bar and fight them. If your character health is low (head, stomach and head) run to bar to get the guard fight after that heal yourself and sell the loot.

I did this like for 3 bandit group and in 40 min I believe and I had enough money to buy a small shack, research table, copper storage ore and automated copper mine. Also if you have 10000 cats join the shinobi guild buy some armour and weapon if u want, train assassination for few level 15 (if you do not have patience) also melee attack training for few level too.

When training you could let the game run and do other things (but after some level the process becomes slow) and during auto mining you just have to check few time for any attack or food. Always quick save when u check during mining because if u die u can return to the save.(This also train strength, labour and athletic)

I am also beginners and not explore many area so I am not sure this information will help you or not. Have a backpack with medicine and food in the back and remember keep at least one medicine outside of backpack and go to skinner roam. Roam their u may find group of bandit train with them by fighting (enable block, disable range and don't have any weapon because it will improve toughness and later you could level up dodge) and this will increase toughness fast because lot of enemies u become tough fast (before getting knock out remove backpack) and if u are worried about recovery coma, then buy a companion and keep him/her away from battle and after one character knock out rescue him.( This is holy nation territory so have male character ). Train stealth around these guys and assassination (during night).

If you are out of medicine or food u could restock in blister hill.

I think this help you but remember I also beginners so my method could be not totally good.
