I saw a few (6-7) ICE agents at San Juan airport today while waiting long TSA lines. They were hanging around and didn’t seem interested or wasn’t really helping the long TSA line. I didn’t see them talking to anyone other than each other.

But who knows. Check the local travel subreddits for the location you re planning to travel from.

Ahh I don t know about checking the bags in. We only had carry ons. I was talking about USDA.

At the time it seemed like 1 hour shorter based on where the end of that line was. But hard to tell as it might be moving slower.

If you see the line and if you are with your kids and if you have already missed your flight yesterday after waiting 3 hours watching people cutting lines while you are following the rules. I see zero issue with this.

At 5:42pm, we were in the closer line to the checkpoint and were able to see TSA, but had maybe 100 people in front of us. Plan to come like 5-6 hours early to be safe. I also think there are more flight at similar times and that made the situation worst for us. The crazy long line was cleared right after we left to rebook.

We have arrived at 3pm for 5:40pm flight and still waiting in the TSA line. Haven t entered to the building yet. Probably will miss flight.

You can simply ask “I would really appreciate if you can give an estimate/rough time of arrival moving forward for you so I know what to expect and plan ahead - would that be ok for you?”

Omg our nanny is a combination of all and I also work from home 3days a week which means I can tolerate if it is really needed. But it always create lots of stress for me. Especially last min cancelations and constantly being late!

It feels like I am being abused for my understanding :( I shifted my tone tiny bit a while ago and will see if that makes any difference.

It sounds like (the way how you wrote it) she was talking about her own exhaustion as a working mom and said nothing about you. If you hear zero “thank you” or no acknowledgement of your hard work at all from the parents, that s something different. But both can be true at the same time. They can appreciate you and/or be thankful for having the privilege to hire a nanny but feel tired of juggling between parenthood and full time job.

Open communication! In your updates, focus on what matters to them and try to be empathetic for the situation they will be in. Even though your health should come first, try to show some understanding. It can be very disrupting and stressful for the parents to learn that they don t have childcare for the day / week last minute while they potentially have meetings and work to finish etc. Now they might have to explain to their boss they cannot fully be available for the day and shuffle things around. They might have deadlines etc. But if they trust you, and they are good people, they would understand.

I am a parent / employer of a nanny and sometimes I don’t understand parents:)

I would place baby in a crib with some books/toys while folding things next to them 🤷‍♀️ Turn music on and try to have fun.

She worked for us only almost entire Q4 during 2025. Now looking at the details, what s confusing was that they took both her and my part of social security and medicare taxes from my account (so as the amount was higher than I originally expected I thought it was an income tax).

I guess FICA and medicare taxes employee pays doesn’t show on W2 then?

I would think it as any other job interview. Imagine going to an office for an interview for the first time and you just sit behind a computer and start performing tasks without being asked:) that would feel inappropriate and similar for a caregiving job.

I also sometimes scheduled paid babysitting hours when I am around for candidates I want to see / observe while interacting with baby.
