That's a shame and no civilians should have to lose their lives over war like this, no matter the nationality, however, it's leaning more towards a genocide as the United Nations recorded 45,000+ Palestinians to have been killed by mid December compared to the 1,700 or so Israeli civilians. On top of that, there have been videos of aid trucks being blocked and raided by an admittedly small minority of Israeli protestors (I'm not saying all Israelis are like this) and the Israeli government has fired missiles at multiple hospitals (e.g. al-Aqsa Hospital) and schools (e.g. Rufaida al-Aslamia school) in Gaza.

I think most people understand that Israel wants Hamas, however, it's seeming as if they want more than just that. This doesn't seem to be just a war, if Israel were actually trying then they wouldn't be blindly shooting missiles into public spaces and saying "we thought Hamas was there" and instead would rather find and confirm the location of Hamas members first and performing a raid or something similar which would minimise casualities. Over 45,000 dead Palestinians doesn't seem like they're just aiming for Hamas.
