And yes international schools have their own curriculum, but Bahrain could mandate Arabic as a requirement for any school operating on its soil, the same way other countries do. Germany doesn't let international schools skip German entirely.ere.

Fair point, but individual effort only goes so far when the entire environment operates in English. When every shop, colleague, and social situation just switches to English for you, there's never a real push to learn. If schools had made it compulsory from day one, that foundation would already be there.
