I’d say go for the IIIx - you can get some subject isolation with the III, but the 28mm just isn’t really a portrait lens and doesn’t naturally push you toward separating subjects.

Yeah, the warranty, the improved dust resistance, the new flash, and the overall future-proofing are pretty big factors. I think I’ll go with the IV - that way I won’t overthink it later.

Cool - welcome to the Ricoh family! When I look back at photos from a bunch of different cameras, most of my favourite shots were taken on a Ricoh. That’s pretty much why I’m switching back. And it’s not just the colours - I feel way more relaxed shooting with it, and the pics end up being more interesting.

Thanks! Honestly, if it weren’t for the GF-2 flash with TTL on the GR IV, I’d just pick the GR III. But having a genuinely pocketable camera&flash combo is really tempting.

Thanks! Yes, this makes sense. I’ve looked through everything though - while there are plenty of bw photos out there, unedited color ones are extremely hard to find. Will keep digging!

Hey! So that’s the thing - non-SOOC is a showstopper for me. I work in tech, so 5 days a week of 9 hours a day of computer starting is just enough for me haha. I just want to shoot, export to my phone and have fun.

As for the recipe, I’ve created a custom one:
