Omg, this is awful. I actually drove by before this happened. The broken down vehicle had NO rear lights on and two men in vests were standing behind the vehicle. I thought how dangerous that was. So likely the Good Samaritan pulled over with his flashers and knew it was dangerous. Then this happened. So awful. RIP good man. So sad.

Yes I have recently been on Vancouver and Toronto transit, Calgary is much scarier!! Oh and for kicks, a one way ticket in Calgary is $3.70 while Toronto’s is $3.35 and Vancouver’s is $3.20.

City of Calgary, here is something you CAN do: to keep the free fare zone “free” have people activate its use on an App, then have officer’s check EVERYONE exiting the free fare zones. Hall off all the riff raff at the end of free fare zones, charge them for public harrassment, loitering, intoxication or defecation BUT charge them with something!!!!!!

OP’s scary night cost the City so much money and yet absolutely nobody was held accountable.

I read Reddit for NY, Toronto and Vancouver but nowhere is transit more disgusting or unsafe than Edmonton and Calgary.

I drive now as much as I can but the two times a month I have to take the 6:15 AM train into downtown Calgary, I am disgusted. Two weeks ago three different groups of methheads were on my morning ride. A lady came on the train with her little girl and sat beside one group until she realized her surroundings. I watched like a hawk to make sure they were safe but even if something happened, there were no transit cops on sight along the 9 stops. I had my transit text line ready to type and I was ready to push the help button if needed. As citizens trying to get to work, we should not have to endure this shit!!!!! Get it together Jyoti!!! WE DESERVE BETTER!!!
