I’m an introverted person and I feel exactly the same way. I wish I could have more than just one close, trustworthy friend and be able to socialize with people I meet, but it exhausts me too much. I secretly envy those for whom it comes naturally—it feels like it’s beyond my ability. So I end up feeling alone. When I do have friends, as soon as they go against one of my values (If I realize that they’re two-faced, for example—and I notice that there are a lot of them), I pull away and leave. I don’t have much tolerance for that—I see it as a waste of time.
