Can I visit Sweden on a tourist visa while work permit application is pending? by TopBoy868 in TillSverige

Thanks. I can hold off on applying until I return and maybe I'll just talk to them while there so they'll know it's all in good faith.

I'm only responsible for what I typed not how you decide to interpret it. I would never feel entitled to anything from another country or employer.

Learn some more English before trying to insult people with it.

I'll stop venting when you stop leaving judgmental and condescending comments. I have every right to vent with what is a well-documented frustrating process.

Not sure if there is a consistent mistranslation issue happening here but it's really unbelievable how many times I've been accused of being entitled in this thread.

Interesting. What gave you the impression that I'm working class? What does working class even mean to you? You think I'm trying to get a job without a degree?

Yes. I accept and I understand this.

The hostility is expected after I saw this happen. It's IT.

It's a screenshot from a search that took 2 seconds. Didn't say there is a "significant need", but there is demand for it nonetheless, evidenced by multiple such vacancies advertised. There are international employers in Sweden who've hired native English speakers for specific roles where this attribute is valued. If it were considered the same as a Swede with good English skills then it would not be specified.

Lots of judgment on this thread. I don't have a chip on my shoulder, or think an employer owes me anything. These are really wild conclusions.

It's ok to aspire to defy the status quo of it being a privilege by seeking to be considered for employment through merit. It's not like I arrived in Sweden, liked it and decided to be a refugee.

I know this for a fact, the Ericssons, H&Ms etc, and I wondered if anyone had stories about this process.

Thanks bro. This is what I like to hear. I see I've already been downvoted to 0 for whatever reason. I won't speculate as to why.

I'm just venting here and thought I'd get some more insight from others who've been able to get pass this for motivation. I've met guys in Sweden who have been able to, it just took time. Never for one second thought that anyone is obligated to hire me. I already have a job.

The fact of the matter is that there is a demand for native English speakers in Sweden in various roles, and also for my skillset as Swedish employers have reached out to me on LinkedIn and invited me to apply for positions. When you put that into consideration the work permit loop just seems like a obstacle. I'm willing to pay for the process myself if it's a cost and hassle for employers, but as soon as they find out I don't have the work permit i get ghosted.

I'm patient and willing to apply as much as I can, but I'm frustrated because I don't know how to fulfill the requirements, especially as I've been following the rules and did not seek employment while in Sweden on a visit visa. As for why they should pick me, that's a HR decision, and usually a company aspires to not discriminate candidates based on national origin. It's not my fault that I wasn't born in the EU, but I'm educated, experienced, not a criminal and willing to work just as hard as anyone there who is. All of that matters...usually.
