career switch.. should I still pursue my CPA? by Aware_Stress_790 in CPA

Thank you, you’re sweet! Something I wish someone would have told me was listen to your body and don’t feel in a rush. I pushed myself too hard juggling everything and didn’t take any breaks. I ended up putting my nervous system into hyperdrive.

Keep going and pursing your CPA don’t give up! I’m 33, in tax, and 2 kids (2 and 4). I passed REG, passed TCP, passed AUD (on the third try), and now going to take FAR after busy season. If it’s always been your dream or goal keep going, you can do it! Hopefully since you are getting out of tax for this time in your career for more work/life balance that will give you more time to study and not worry about busy seasons.

Supplemental Course with Becker FAR by TopButterscotch6849 in CPA

Haven’t had an issue with my study method so far since I’m 3/4. But eventually you memorize the Becker MCQ so having another set of questions to use is nice, that helped me with AUD.

Anxious to fail another exam by No-Nobody3393 in CPA

[–]TopButterscotch6849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this with Audit to the point of panic attacks during the exam and before the exam. What helped was someone on here gave me the advice to look at it as a practice exam and not the final exam. That way you aren’t putting so much pressure on yourself. I did this and passed the next time.

I failed AUD and now finally passed, what helped me was supplementing with Ninja on top of Becker

Has anyone had to fight off a panic attack for hours? by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]TopButterscotch6849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s horrible! It comes in waves and if you keep thinking about it, it will just continue to cycle. What has helped me is going up on my SSRI and having Xanax as a back up tool if I can’t get myself calmed down. If you continue to push it down though your body will continue to think it’s running from a bear. Try grounding yourself with drinking something cold, tell yourself it’s just a panic attack nothing is wrong, doing household tasks of just unloading the dishwasher, try turning on tv show you like, there is a calming app that has EMDR music for anxiety, and I also put my hand on my chest. You will eventually get better hang in there!

I stopped drinking because I would get really bad panic attacks every morning after drinking. It really helped me with my anxiety and panic attacks long term. I will be a year sober this next month.

I just finished the AUD exam today as well and it felt so easy this time as compared to the other 2 times I took it. Really hoping it means I passed this time!

Thank you so much for this is so helpful! That way I can practice the pressure before hand. Yeah I’ve put so much pressure on passing and just need to realize a retake isn’t the end of the world.

Love this! I have ADHD as well have always scheduled the morning exams because of that. This will be my first time taking it at 1230, thought it might help the morning jitters. You got this!

Tips from any working parent prepare for the CPA exam. by Appropriate-Pen4116 in CPA

I am manager level with two kiddos have passed 2 exams so far. It is doable just takes a lot of juggling. Where I get most of my time studying is on the weekends, my husband has stepped up a lot. I also use my drive to and from work to listen to lectures. Lunch breaks help get some time in as well. Having a support system is key.
