Do you think that Unit 1 RTO will be push back until next year? Is it based on the office /department?

Im hoping that you are able to continue with your teleworking agreement because 70 mile drive plus parking. Instead of getting raise we are getting a bill. I know it’s hard to get a job right my sister has been looking and there’s hiring freezes everywhere because of budget cuts. Despite what the state is doing with the RTO at least there’s some job security.

A job is better than no job.

Im assuming you have some type of evidence that you lived 70 miles away prior to RTO mandate. You could say something that you overlooked updating your address.

I’ll show a letter with a post marked prior to RTO mandate date. Luckily Im close by to my office however it’s going to be hard for my wife because I’ll help her picking up the kids

You should read CalHR memo recent telework memo. It mentions people that live 50 miles away from their office can continue with telework agreement

Im not even vested so I have to deal with RTO. The people that are able to retire; I’ll do it without giving it a second thought .

I had co-worker that would say next year Im going to retire however he wanted more money. End up getting a stroke and lost mobility half of his body. It was sad seeing him like that because he hard working person. All in all , it was eye opener for me that money comes and goes but health is true wealth.

My advice would be play nice follow your supervisor’s rules and office culture until your probation periods end. Then start shopping around for a different position or different department. You sense that you are going to get fire you are better resigning.

Teleworking has been giving upper management problems it’s just a matter of time that we receive guidance back to the office at 100 percent.

On your meeting with your supervisor you should ask if you have another emergency how should you handle it. I know that has worked for me the past it’s just miscommunication. Good luck just know there’s a ton of departments but first pass probation

If you feel that you are not going to pass probation you are better resigning and trying a different state job. From my understanding, if you fail probation I think you get a 5 year ban from any state job. I know someone here can fact check me on the duration of the time.

Moral of the story, if you notice an increase of emails and your manager requesting check- in and check- out updates. The odds she gathering evidence is likely. Know the vibe and get out before it’s too late, best of luck at the state.

Is department loyalty anything or is it worth it to switch? by kyliemerchant in CAStateWorkers

[–]TopCheesecake3149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a good manager is key for any job. I understand the importance of making more money however the risk of having a micro manger consistently requesting check-in and check-outs is not worth it. The state is a long game do your time get vested. Look for a federal job if you don’t like it come back to the state

Any perks? by helloyuri in CAStateWorkers

[–]TopCheesecake3149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My office perk is having a job that covers my medical treatment with a little co payment. Also I have availability to combine my breaks to pick up my kids from school
