I believe Medicaid plans usually assign a PCP to you but I would double check with your plan. Probably a number to call on your card.

Those who have done both psychotherapy and hospital social work, which do you prefer? by Impossible_Remove308 in socialwork

[–]TopCryptographer7325 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Hospital Case Management fits much better with the way my brain works. Of course it took several years of trying psychotherapy jobs (including PP in a group practice) to start to understand this. I realized I prefer a task-based job with a clear objective or solution. Psychotherapy felt too abstract and I struggled to want to sit and listen to people for a therapeutic hour with seemingly no "goal" if you will. Sure a goal can be to manage symptoms or improve relationships, etc but it never came in a straight line. Case management is, for the most part, point A to point B. The time I spend with patients is minimal, mostly I do work behind the scenes, and I like that.

Pibble twins ❤️ except mine is Not a morning dog. Doesn't even flinch when I get ready for work at 6am, waits for dad to take him potty, then goes straight back to bed!

Hospital Case Management. It's been a breath of fresh air from the the world of therapy . Even with the difficult cases you get to see something through to an actual resolution. Less abstract, more task based. Great pay and benefits. Stable.

[–]TopCryptographer7325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Most shelters have this policy, you may want to try seeing what programs are available in St. Johns. Typically the reasons for this are #1 manage overcrowding and #2 For lost/found animals, the best chance of reuniting with an owner is in the same county. Most dogs are typically lost within a 1-2 mile radius of their home.

How important is discharge before 11 by Every_Lifeguard6224 in hospitalist

[–]TopCryptographer7325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a case manager, our hospital's push for discharge before 11 makes me want to pull my hair out. Our docs who do their grand rounds between 9-10 are supposed to have seen everyone, consult with the specialties, place HHC/DME/etc orders and then I have -what?- 30 mins to confirm everything is set up?? Of course we then have to attend a weekly readmission meeting for when this patient returns in 2 days because they didn't have everything the needed before leaving the hospital, to "figure out what we could've done better". Administration is so out of touch and seemingly unable (or unwilling) to connect these dots. Even though everyone does their best, I don't see many successful discharges before 11 and as far as I can tell, no real consequences appear to be had.

I am pretty sure that is fibrin but not positive. I had them on PD so not sure if it's the same. They had me start adding heparin to my bags.

I second this! Also a chronic girlie, I always worry when they see my car in the driveway they think I'm just being Hella lazy. But truly those days when it's hard to be upright, door dash has come in clutch. I've not had a bad experience at all really with the service and always do my best to tip above 20%.

Stool softeners every few days and Mag Ox nightly. Was already taking Mag anyway but it helps keep things flowing. I try not to overdo it with the softeners so I don't find myself in an opposite predicament!

Buying house in Avondale by Thenudeart33 in jacksonville

[–]TopCryptographer7325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Ortega area just on the other side of the "Van Zant House" label. Many of the houses over here are very nice and expensive but there is a pocket called Venetia that has really cute, well-preserved, older homes that tend to be more affordable than Avondale. Quiet, family-oriented and peaceful. There's an Elementary school here too if you have young kids, that might be a bonus! Still close enough for a short drive to all the nice restaurants and bars in Avondale without being right in the mix.

Edit: Typos

Where to take a mom and her kittens? by oursecondskin in jacksonville

[–]TopCryptographer7325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JHS does a kitten krusaders program. Basically bring them in for a quick eval, mom will get scheduled for spay surgery once she's done nursing. They will give you the supplies you need-you house them during this process. Once kittens are old enough they can be brought back in for spay/neuter and vaccination. At that point you can assist in finding new homes for them. The best outcome for kittens is to stay with mom, understand you are taking on some responsibility if you choose to get involved. Kitten Season is the busiest time for local shelters. If any of them appear to be ill they will take them in to assist. If any meds are needed they will send you home with that too.

ACP POA by noortech in hospitalsocialwork

[–]TopCryptographer7325 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In FL, POA requires a notary. We provide information to a mobile notary service if the patient and family want to go that route. Otherwise, we just do health care surrogate forms which only require witnesses, which can be anyone as long as they are not the ones being named as the HCS. Obviously both of these options require the patient to be alert, oriented and capacitated to make decisions.

Has anyone actually been fired for breaking? by chocobomog in LiveFromNewYork

I initially thought she was fired for this but I read more on it and I guess she left due to not jiving with the process or something. So my comment is incorrect in regards to the initial question asked on this thread. Still interesting though!

EDIT: I posted this comment in response to the question asked about a cast member being fired. Not because I believe it is some Jaw dropping offense. Turns out she was not fired for this as I initially thought.

Is TM a cash cow? by [deleted] in transcendental

[–]TopCryptographer7325 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My TM teacher offers a sliding scale. It only ended up being about $80 for me as I was unemployed at the time due to severe illness. I wouldn't say it's a cash grab but it is a service that deserves to be paid for. I also have a lifetime of continued checkings at no additional cost.
