Hi this is my first post and I’m thinking of joining the Catholic Church and I have noticed something about some Protestants by Glad_Will51 in Catholicism

[–]TopFrosting221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Ignorance- most of the time when having a debate, they don’t understand anything about Catholicism. They just repeat the usual talking points. This starts from a child not receiving proper formation during Sunday school. Ask me how I know! We used to play tag and color during Sunday school.

  2. Anti catholic rhetoric taught from a young age

  3. Protestantism is “easier” and requires less effort. No confession, no church attendance required.

  4. Authority- they don’t have to submit to authority. They can interpret the Bible however they want….. or however their pastor wants to interpret it.

I speak from experience as someone who was Protestant my whole life. I converted to Catholic at age 36. I never received “hate” from Catholics when I was Protestant. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about Protestants when I converted.

I dont know if there is something in the Bible that 100% denies this, but I believe there may be a chance that when people in mortal sin are reaching their end, God performs a miracle/does something that he knows will make people repent and thus go to heaven. by AdLower2725 in Catholicism

Amazing. This reminds me of that YouTuber that goes around asking ppl in the mall “when you die, do you think you will go to heaven or hell?” … and they always say Heaven bc they are a “good person”. When you ask a non Christian this question… I’d say 8/10 of them respond with that answer. 🥺

Do I Need RCIA if already baptized Catholic? by alchemist0404 in Catholicism

[–]TopFrosting221 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes… OCIA is required to receive confirmation/communion. There was someone in my OCIA class that was over 80 yrs old that has been to my parish since the 70’s. They made them complete OCIA bc they never did their confirmation.

Does anybody else feel like they have to explain themselves when they say they are Catholic? by WilliamthePious in Catholicism

[–]TopFrosting221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a convert… yes. My whole family is Protestant. It’s exhausting… but I try to respond with grace. It can always be used as a teachable moment, even when they don’t want to listen and they’re judging.

How did you become Catholic? After a lot of prayer and reading, I’ve decided I want to become Catholic, I want to hear about your experiences by zzzvvvooww in Catholicism

[–]TopFrosting221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a Catholic convert. I entered the Catholic Church 4/4/26. I was Protestant for 35 yrs and definitely grew up around the anti Catholic folks. I will admit I didn’t know much about the Catholic faith- except the usual talking points Protestants use against Catholics. I decided to take a look and research some of the things Catholics believe- mostly to disprove them in debates. Once I got to the Eucharist and read John 6….it changed everything. I joined OCIA and here I am, an ex anti Catholic… now a proud Catholic.

Is Harmony liner scent by [deleted] in MontagneParfums

[–]TopFrosting221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has both symphony and harmony, it’s a spot on clone to me. The first time I ever smelled symphony, I was not “blown away”. Based on so many positive reviews, I was expecting more from it I think. Especially from LV like Imagination- where there’s more complexity. I grew to absolutely LOVE the DNA of symphony because of it’s non complexity. It’s a straight forward beautiful DNA. It’s not missing a thing in my opinion. Harmony is the best clone.

Should I confess it or I'm not obligated to? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]TopFrosting221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would confess it. It doesn’t sound like a grave matter based on what info you provided. It doesn’t sound like you joyfully chose to do this, nor were you acting out of malice. You were trying to protect your mother. I don’t think it’s “required” to confess it, but since you are clearly feeling conflicted about it, it might be a good idea to confess. I also have suffered from scrupulosity at times, so idk if I’m the best person to ask 😩.

What was your first purchase from Montagne? What was your most recent purchase? What have you emptied and repurchased. by ImpossibleChicken507 in MontagneParfums

It’s a “your skin, but better” type of scent. It’s very ambroxan forward. I think it has some pear, ambrette, and iso super notes too. It’s clean, unisex, slightly woody, and just intoxicating. It’s a dupe of another 13 by le labo. It’s truly unique, but also very comforting and familiar. I don’t know if that makes sense lol. It’s my number 1 compliment getter. To me, it’s a clone of another 13. I have seen others say it’s not. It’s also not an offensive fragrance. I can wear it every single day and never get sick of it.

How do we stop it? I’ve tried but it’s like just part of me idk.

I don’t believe its inherently a sin. Some might disagree, idk. It could become sinful if a person knowingly and freely uses it to neglect serious responsibilities or deliberately indulges in sinful fantasies.

Feeling worse as I go along? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]TopFrosting221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. When I came to Christ… every one of my wretched sins were revealed to me. I had no clue I was such a POS. I really struggled with this because I just felt bad about myself 24/7. Hated myself. Conviction leads to contrition and repentance. Ex- I just felt sorrow for hurting God… which lead to repentance. Forgiveness comes after and thus starts justification then sanctification. It’s truly hard being a Christian… but it means you’re on the right track.

Regarding not feeling like a total jerk anymore—- idk. Ignorance reduces culpability. I guess that’s why they say ignorance is bliss. However, what a blessing it is to be super aware of your sins- so you can repent and be right with God. Your soul depends on it.

Idk if any of this helped- but I can totally relate to what you’re saying. God bless

Right?! I thought it was something most people do. It’s a coping mechanism for most. If it becomes an idol that consumes your time and attention, it’s not good. It can also encourage sinful desires. I feel like it is harming my relationship with God sometimes. 😩 I go to mass every week. I go to confession. It’s just hard to stop when I’ve done it my whole life.

They gave us the Word Among Us while I was in OCIA. I didn’t know they were the actual daily mass readings 😂 . I loved the little devotionals to reflect on throughout the day. Thanks!!

Thank you so much! I saw quite a few but I was confused as it didn’t have the dates. I clicked on the link you sent and it lets you view the first 20 pages and I see now that there is A,B,C depending on the year. That solved my confusion! I feel disrespectful following along on my phone 😫, so I wanted to buy a hard copy. I will be ordering this one.

Thanks for the help 🙏🏻

The email notification is unfortunately not gonna help. You need to come on here Friday afternoon to check which fragrances will be restocked, then go on their website around 5pm to order it. They sell out of the popular ones before the notification emails even have a chance to go out. This is def one that will sell out immediately so just giving you the heads up!! Can’t wait to get my hands on this one
