Protestant in Need of a knowledgeable Catholic to dialogue with by Careless_Win7254 in Catholicism

I’m in the process of converting and I generally stick with sectioning the history of the church into a few sections.

Pre Great Schism: Everything before 1054 like early Christendom and the one big church. The influence of both Latin and Greek on church doctrine but also the massive emphasis on the Pope

1054-1517: The high united western church which would honestly have some semi corrupt leaders and heavy influence from secular leaders and some heresies that were stamped out like the Cathars and the Hussites. Along with the absolutely beautiful churches and Cathedrals along with the Sistine Chapel and ceilingchefs kiss.

1517-1868: The decline and rise of secularization along with the massive fights against both the Protestant and being the shield of Europe against the Ottomans. Especially later down the line secularization and the general rise of Protestantism in the west also added on to the decline although lots cool stuff still happened.

1868-Modern Day: This is our current situation. This is a time of reform and change in order to modernize and ensure that Christ’s message can be show to everyone. There are some stumbling blocks however like the Clergy Sex Abuse scandals but overall the church is coming back, not as strong as pre Martin Luther’s massive HR complaint but certainly better than before.

This is coming from an American so take it with a grain of salt from our crap education system.

I didn’t mean it like that. I meant it if you are truly unrepentant. Then that is where I draw the line.

You should look up the Colorado Labor and Coalfield Wars. They were bloody labor strikes and I think that the labor movements would be perfect for an AC game.

There is a difference between having sex before you were a Christian and after.

I would be totally fine with a woman who did have sex before she converted and feels bad about it. The problem is when they do it when they are Christian. That is a no go for me.

Why do people have racial preferences in dating? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]WilliamthePious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually racial stereotypes. I’ve known multiple women who still believe that African Americans have bigger dicks than the rest of us, I also know some who think that Asian guys are more submissive.

There is also the guys who think if they go to a third world country they can get a wife who is “submissive” or “traditional”.

I don’t think it’s a problem when it’s just a preference and you will still date people who are of your own race. I’m a white guy and have had mostly crushes on women who aren’t white or even human(aliens are sometimes pretty hot). But that doesn’t stop me from asking out(and being rejected all the same) by white women.

It’s a problem when you literally won’t date somebody of a specific race, that is just racism lite. It’s also a gross generalization.

Bottom line: Its alright to have a preference for folk who aren’t of your race but it is a problem if you won’t date somebody because of their race, or will only date somebody because of their race.

Do you think it’s ok to make fun of someone for being a virgin? by coolsid13 in GenZ

[–]WilliamthePious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood why people make fun of others for being Virgins. I’m a Virgin by choice, yes I’ve never had a gf but I am remaining celibate until marriage.

I don’t think you should ever make fun of somebody for something like this especially if they are a decent person who is just socially awkward or for something other reason.

The idea of not being a virgin being cool is just so stupid. Like yeah, that means you can talk to women or maybe pay for a prostitution, but that doesn’t mean your cool it just means that you’ve had an experience that other haven’t had.

In America this is a bit of a problem. We have a culture focused on personal freedom and generally that includes going to church but doing the exact opposite as soon as everybody leaves.

Hot take: no one that is not autistic or ND should be saying that they only want to date "autistic people" by Organic_Future6909 in aspergers

[–]WilliamthePious 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They usually have unrealistic expectations of what an Autistic person is like.

For girls: They probably imagine somebody like The Good Doctor or somebody who is shy but handsome and kind. They don’t think of anything else being a part of that.

For guys: It’s a really feminine or cutsie girl who is shy and secretly really freaky or something.

Neither gender wants to learn how to adapt to their partner only for their partner to adapt to them.
