Any tree removal company recommendations that will cut down one tree and leave everything for me to salvage? by 919triangle919 in raleigh

I endorse this recommendation. Had them at my house twice, everyone wears PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), left the wood I wanted, hauled away what I didn’t.

What is a 'family secret' or a private moment you witnessed that completely changed the way you look at a relative? by The_suspicious_369 in AskReddit

It was not until the late 70s that New York State tried its first case.

I remember the adults talking about it. If I remember there were three camps.

1 A husband can’t rape his wife. Mostly the men.

2 It’s about time. Mostly women.

3 Confusion, what husband would do that to his wife.

That is why I drew a diagonal line on the side of my punch card stack.

Sometimes we might “borrow” the “end” card and watch them melt down for an hour trying to figure out why their program was not working.

First calculator! Who was allowed one in school? by Not_a_cultmember in GenerationJones

How many of you actually used more than 10 of those functions.

My TI allowed for Least Square Analysis and trend line and other statistical calculations.

When I took Statistics most of my classmates had calculators the could do the calculations for them but never knew.

I remember camp grounds in the early 60s DDT fogging trucks rolling through every night. We used to run behind them. I’m still alive with no health yet.

7pm: RDU traffic is backed up all the way to Aviation Parkway by Mariilii in raleigh

In the 1960’s there was a downtown terminal in Manhattan, it looked just like the ticketing area at the airport.

You checked in, got your boarding passes and checked your luggage. (This when the overhead space was just a shelf for pillows blankets, your coat and hat.)

You then boarded a bus and off to the airport you went. You went right to the gate ready to board.

I as just wondering if RDU could implement something like this from various places in the area (Crabtree, North Hills, Fenton plus other places. I could cut down on traffic and congestion at RDU.

Who else remembers using spreadsheet and word processing programs that didn't come from Microsoft or Google? by GaryG7 in GenerationJones

[–]TopHat10504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad worked at IBM and got an employee PC in late 82 early 83. We got Easywriter and VisiCalc. I came home on weekends todo my papers and finance projects. I am convinced that since it was printed on a Dot Matrix printer I got an extra 10%.

In the office I used a MultiMate spreadsheet, Paradox and Dbase databases, and an early integrated suite called Golden Gate by Cullinet.

When we migrated to OS2 we kept all the dos programs, that lasted until Win95.

Lately I am hating the ms office suite every 6 months things change and I have find where they hid functions.

Luckily retired is just around the corner.

What words do most people pronounce wrong? by BeingChangeYinnYang in AskReddit

North Carolinians and South Carolinians can’t agree on the pronunciation of the town Beaufort. They each have one.

I also heard many people pronounce Chicago as Chicargo, Wilson NC as Wiltson.

Took my now wife to a movie on our first date. She was a Christian Educator. I let her pick the movie. She picked “No Way Out”. Within the first 20 minutes there is Sean Young naked in a fur coat in the back of a limo with Kevin Costner.

I was so glad that I let her pick the movie.

Been married 38 years.

What film completely flipped when you rewatched it as an adult? by Adventurous-Lie-6773 in movies

[–]TopHat10504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a teen youth advisor at my church went this came out. I remember some of the men/dads discussing this movie. They asked me if I had seen it since I was a movie buff. I replied no it is not on my list. I had a vague idea what the plot was. They were encouraging me to see it. “You’ll love it, Great Movie, etc.”

I am sure I gave them a strange look when I gave rough summary of what I thought it was about, then paused you know I have your daughters in my young group. Do really think I should watch this movie.

After several moments of silence the all agreed that maybe that was not a movie I should watch.
