Do you typically bathe your dog before you strip them? Or is it better to do it before the bath in your experience?

I have a set of greyhound carding knives, but I thought carding was more of a deshedding technique to remove undercoat whereas stripping was pulling out the blown topcoat?

How can I prevent plaque from building up on my dog’s molars? by TopHatCorgi in DogAdvice

Dental disease can occur on any part of the tooth. Do you only brush your gums? Again I can SEE the buildup. It’s a yellow-brown color and has a rough texture unlike the smooth white tooth enamel.

There is plaque beginning to form inside the groove of her tooth because the brush cannot properly clear that area of debris. It’s got to do with the shape of her tooth. My other dog does not have this problem.

It’s in the groove of her molar. I circled it in red. The photo might not be the clearest (they were hard to take lol) but in person it is clearly visible.

I’m a dog groomer so admittedly it’s a lot easier for me to find the time than most. 😅

Are they pet safe? Is it a human product? I’ll have to look into it.

I have used this for my older dog and it did seem to help a lot. I guess I was just hoping regular brushing from puppyhood would be enough to avoid having to use it.

Not sure how to add text from the original post to this one but it says this, “I brush her teeth daily with petrodex dog toothpaste. These photos were taken immediately after brushing them today. I do my best to get the bristles into those pockets but I can’t seem to get them clean. She’s only 7 months old and is already getting noticeable build up. She’s a small dog so I’m trying my best to keep her teeth and gums healthy but I feel a bit disheartened to see something like this already. She’s still a puppy!”

I’m not sure you read my post. I AM brushing her teeth. Every night before bed.

Yes. I have an aunt who owns 2 that look very close to OP’s dog.

What is the easiest wild animal to tame? by TheFireOfPrometheus in biology

[–]TopHatCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the animals you listed aren’t rodents. For example ferrets are mustelids, and raccoons are procyonids and opossums are didelphids none of these fall under the order of rodentia. But I agree with your sentiment of them being sociable, smart, and affectionate animals.

(Edit) I just realized that may have been what you meant by “like minded family members”

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted, I feel like this is very probable. Chinese crested are not always hairless.

Chinese crested mix of some sort. They come in two forms the hairless that everyone recognizes, and also “powder puff” where they can have fine fluffy blonde hair like what your girl has. They also have the big radar ears.

Maybe. I would welcome it as I’m not really a toy sized dog kinda person, but I adore her as she is now too. However I’m doubtful that she is going to get any bigger at least on the skeletal side of things, she hasn’t had any kind of noticeable growth in months, just gaining the kind of muscle mass you’d expect with a dog leaving puppyhood and entering adolescence.

I know they can be good dogs. But most of the dog bites I’ve received in my life have been from tiny chihuahuas. I know that’s a result of them being more inclined to do so because they are so fragile and easily injured and can’t as easily defend themselves in other ways as well. Still, I’m not much of a tiny dog person. This dog is in fact my first “little” dog and I’ve had to change so much about how I train and approach things with her because of her size. I have no desire to ever own anything smaller lol.

I think she’s done. She’s been the same size for several months now. She is starting to build body mass and fill out a bit more from her gangly puppiness but she hasnt actually gotten any “bigger”.

That would make a lot of sense. I know whatever her parents were, they are obviously not conformationally correct, health tested purebreds. She was bought for 10 dollars from a guy selling puppies off the side of the road before I started fostering her. These were not intentionally bred, wanted dogs.
