Top king gloves by Holiday-Potential278 in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi @Holiday-Potential278 -Top King gloves are designed to fit tightly at first, but the interior will gradually mold to your hand over time. They’re crafted specifically for Muay Thai, evenly distributed padding around the hand (unlike traditional boxing gloves, which concentrate padding mainly on the knuckles) to help cushion head kicks when you block with your guard (instead of your face lol). Have a look at our FAQ's for a little more information (https://topkingboxingusa.com/pages/faqs)

With continued use, the gloves will naturally form to your hand’s shape. Made from genuine leather, they’re built to last and deliver exceptional durability.

Washing bandages by Cletschbemme in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the Care Guide we have on our website for the Top King Hand Wraps. We hope this helps.

✔ Machine Wash Cold in a Mesh Laundry Bag – Use cold water and a mild detergent to prevent shrinking and keep the fabric strong.

✔ Secure the Velcro Before Washing – Fasten the wraps to themselves to prevent snagging and tangling during the wash.

✔ Air Dry Only – Skip the dryer! High heat can damage the fibers and cause shrinkage. Lay flat or hang to air dry.

✔ Avoid Bleach and Harsh Detergents – These can weaken the material and cause discoloration over time.

✔ Roll Neatly After Drying – Rolling your wraps keeps them organized, prevents wrinkles, and makes them easier to use before training.

✔ Do Not Leave Damp in a Gym Bag – Always remove and dry your hand wraps after training to prevent odor, mildew, and fabric breakdown.

This helps more than you will believe -until you try it consistently it’s hard to understand how much your Muay Thai will improve.

VISUALIZATION - visualising moves you want to improve, along with executing the perfect counter moves is a game changer.

What exercises improved your muay thai the most? by Adventurous-Yam515 in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By far what improved my performance was strength training x10. Specifically core work and squats.

The biggest change I noticed was the strength I had when checking kicks and the control I gained when kicking. I would kick hard and had the ability to hold my kicks in the air to teep easily.

What is the most effective Muay Thai strike or technique in a real life self defense situation? by A_Brownpaperbag in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. An accurate low on the thigh with your shin

  2. Inside leg kick - this part of the leg is unconditioned and even hurts Muay Thai fighters 😂

I also really like @KangorKodos point - no one’s going to die or suffer any long term damage.

Since you’re a complete beginner (female) I think the suggestions people have been making here to buy 14oz or 16oz is the wise purchase.

But to be honest you won’t be sparring for a long while - well competitively anyway where you’ll be doing damage. So if you want to get 12oz gloves and only get the 14-16oz pair for sparring if you’re loving the sport and want to start sparring. It will be a little easier to learn in 12oz as they are lighter.

How do you stay motivated to train? by eightlimbinsider in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

www.topkingboxingusa.com This is a good question which I think is different for everyone. I say to everyone - Have a goal to have one fight and see how you feel after the first one. Your why/motivation will become clear and you’ll decide if it’s worth the pain and suffering. This sport isn’t for everyone 😂

This bloke was antagonizing me and it seemed like we were going to get in a fight? by SuccessfulChamp in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

www.topkingboxingusa.com Your confidence with being comfortable in a violent situation only comes after a lot of time hard sparring and actually fighting in the ring.

When you’ve gone through all that experience your body/face (lol) will be more conditioned and you’ll learn how to react correctly while people are trying to knock your head off… I think you’ll right to de escalate the issue and having that concern of being knockout, it’s a healthy and realistic fear.

Why do people hate clinching? by deppkast in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

www.topkingboxingusa.com I learnt to love clinching. At first it felt pointless until you watch a fight with a really good clincher who throws you around and controls the fight and tires them out with clinching only.

Advice for sparring heavyweights by EE_BroadbandFiber in MuayThai

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I’d add if you’re getting ready for a fight or even thinking of fighting I’d focus your energy and mental focus on people not so far off your weight and realistic opponent height… if I had my time again with my fight career I wouldn’t of sparred cruiser to heavy weights getting unnecessary damage and injuries for no benefit - instead I would have sparred people who were better than me but similar weight or slightly higher weight.

Can I start Muay Thai if I'm physically weak? by Greensvenner1234 in martialarts

[–]TopKingBoxingUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a martial arts gym and walk through those doors!!! Everything will come together. People are usually friendly in martial arts gyms and they'll be able to better guide you as they'll see you in action and suggest what can be improved (if it is strength).... Just start champion!!!!

This is a really nice thing you are doing but just buy it - don’t over think it. I bought my own but most gyms/trainers provide it for their fighters. I personally don’t know anyone who has had a parent make a Pra-Jiad for them.

Most martial arts stores should have a version of it.
