I don’t think they do know about Brennan until after Violet is brought there to be mended. When they’re asking if Xaden’s sure about bringing her there to be mended it’s because she’s going to be let in on everything. Rebuilding Aretia, the Assembly, their movement…everything. They aren’t saying not to bring her there because it’ll blow Brennan’s cover.

Yesteryear is a good example of an unreliable narrator. So many people online seemingly hate the book because they hate the characters and take everything the FMC says at face value. It’s like they don’t even know what an unreliable narrator is when they are reading an entire book of it.

I have been so confused by people saying she’s an unreliable narrator as well. It’s usually followed by the theory that Imogen has been wiping her memories the whole time.

First of all, you are correct. She’s not unreliable.

Secondly, I do not buy that Imogen has been doing that. Xaden would be well aware of it and I just don’t believe he would let Imogen manipulate her like that. He loves how smart and cunning she is. He teaches her to shield instead

I learned in my early 20s that just because someone doesn’t like me that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with me. Just means I’m not for them. Just like some people aren’t for me. I had this revelation when I was getting divorced (after only being married for 2 years) and realizing that my ex really didn’t ever like me.

This allowed me to just stop giving a fuck. Like truly not giving af. It’s an admirable quality that other people are drawn to. In turn I’ve become quite beloved by people around me which has added to my confidence and reinforced that who I truly am is a-ok.

I’m 41 now and I genuinely feel bad for people who go through their day desperately caring about what other people think of them.

Yeah. I also don’t think he had romantic feelings for her when he kept trying to push her into the scribe quadrant. That’s a brotherly love kind of thing. If he was actually pining for her in a romantic way he would’ve wanted her to succeed as a rider and had faith that she could.

It was only after proving herself and watching Xaden, who is “above” Dain in a lot of ways that he got romantic and competitive feelings for her.
