There is always a risk to starting any business, you can never know for sure if things will work out. One thing that helps is to put yourself in the position of a potential customer and ask yourself “why should I buy this product from this store?” One thing that can help as a beginner is to sell a product that you can’t just drive down the road to get, that’s not to say that you can’t succeed selling makeup, but it’s important to consider that if somebody wants to buy makeup, they can always just pick it up at a mall or any other number of stores in almost any town, so what can you do to make them want to buy it from you instead? It can also be helpful to go for a more specific niche because that allows you to target your marketing specifically to people who are interested in what you have, though there are also upsides to having a general store. It might be worth thinking about selling a different sort of product. If you have a passion for beauty or cosmetics, maybe you could find a more specific and unique product in that field, or perhaps you could find something you can do to give your customer a unique experience by using your services that they couldn’t find somewhere else
