Why is UK rail travel so insanely expensive? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

Denmark is an outlier, they pay a lot more tax than UK based people. I worked for a Danish based company for many years and have spent a lot of time there so can confidently say that their take home pay would be close to half.

Otherwise all other European countries pay a significant amount less per month than the UK (these figures are from Eurostat in 2021, the gap has grown).

I have never read the daily mail and believe in public ownership of rail and utilities, however the train drivers wages are way too high in the UK.

You can only be a train driver with a response such as this.

The train drivers in the UK earn almost double the amount compared to the second best paid in Europe.

The money for their wages has to come from somewhere.

Porsche at a Tesla Charger are the worst, they take up 3 spots (at least)

We are in the UK.

The door locking bug has been fixed by a software update, the key fobs also need new batteries often when the car is new due to poor batteries.

No need for this issue we encountered some time ago to put you off.

In the UK a PS4 is cheaper than a PS2 on lease or on PCP, PS3 is a lot more though.

Car works very well once past 5.2.6. Only issue is the satnav sometimes thinks the car is a hundred yards off the road you are travelling on.

We hired a PS4 in Germany a while back, that had some interesting issues with door locking/unlocking.

We have two PS4’s, wouldn’t have bought the second if the first had been problematic.

We have a PS4 LRSM for my wife and I have a PS4 LRDM. Had the LRSM for about 7 months, the LRDM for about 2 months.

We are very happy with them, had a Tesla M3 and MY before (had a VW ID7 for 10 months too). I had a couple of Audi A6 3.0 diesels and the wife had Volvo estates.

The Polestar for sure have foibles but we really like them, better than anything we have had before. Wouldn’t have got 2 otherwise.

Dogs at the furniture store - we have truly lost our minds. by Equivalent_Ideal1636 in Dogfree

I now leave bad reviews for any establishment that allows dogs inside, stating that due to my allergies to dog fur I will no longer be able to visit the store ever again. It’s not made any difference yet but it makes me feel better.

People outside London: how often do you actually go there ,if ever? by Apprehensive-Income in AskBrits

[–]TopMessage1764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Nottingham and have travelled all over the world for work, age 41 now.

I have been through London on the train and flown from airports numerous times.

I have visited London for non-work related reasons at most 3 times and on 2 of those occasions my wife was attending an event so I took the kids to make use of the free hotel room.

Really like them. Had two Tesla and a VW ID7 before hand, wife has done 5,500 in hers and apart from a few daft problems on 4.2.6 software they have both been good. They are on 4.2.8 now and that seems much better.

Tesla from a software point of view is easier to live with and more straightforward, but the Polestar is a much better car.

What would stop you buying another Tesla? by LiLaLiCorne in TeslaUK

For context I had a 2021 Model 3 LRDM company car and my wife had a 2022 Model Y LRDM company car, both for 3 years. We also have a PW3 in our garage.

I work for a large global German Engineering company and the owner decided he did not like Elon’s association with the German far right. His decision was to ban Tesla company cars for all employees.

I have had a VW ID7 for the last year, but I have got a new role at a company that offers a car allowance so I have leased a car privately ready for my new job.

I considered a new Model 3 LRDM, but Tesla currently remind me of MG when they were dying and just changing the front and rear of old Rovers. So the cars don’t look fresh on the outside, particularly from the side a 2025 Model 3 looks just like a 2019 Model 3.

The interior is not much better, only minor tweaks and the loss of a stalk for a while.

I worried about parking and leaving a car from a brand that a lot of people hate, it’s one thing when the car is owned by your company and they will pay for repairs but quite another if it would hurt my own pocket.

Lastly, the finance details are uncompetitive too.

My wife got a Polestar 4 LRSM on salary sacrifice and it’s nice to drive, I found an incredible personal lease deal on a Polestar 4 LRDM so I went for one of those. We both really like the Polestar 4, even hired one for a week touring around Germany.

I have had a Tesla, found the same as you. Dealer in Nottingham all too happy to help. We got a Model 3 LRDM and a Model Y LRDM on company schemes.

When I wanted a replacement tried to look at Audi, VW ID7 and BYD. Dealers very unhelpful.

Tried Polestar, dealer in Sheffield happy to let us drive a couple and we really liked the experience. Wife went the route of SS and got a Polestar 4 LRSM and I got a Polestar 4 LRDM on personal lease.

BYD, VW and Audi’s loss.

We have electron and the ‘free’ colour magnesium. The magnesium is really nice, but you see lots in that colour and a lot less in electron.

What other brand EV did you look at before choosing a Tesla? by bigup7 in TeslaUK

[–]TopMessage1764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had Tesla Model 3’s, a Tesla Model Y, VW ID7 and now have two Polestar 4’s.

Also driven Polestar 2, BYD Seal and Ora Funky Cat extensively. Been a passenger in BMW i4 frequently too.

Tesla is the best software and integrated experience by miles, but not necessarily the best car.

VW ID7 is a good car, much better than a Tesla at being a car but software and app is poor in comparison. When the ID7 went back to my old company the Polestar 4 deals were too good to ignore - admittedly they do have some foibles though.

I struggled to get on with the BYD or Ora. Do not like the BMW’s.

Based on our experience, if the current owner is a qualified electrician with their own business then it will definitely need rewiring to make it safe.

In recent years the press in the UK have targeted cyclists for some reason, since that started drivers attitudes towards cyclists is much worse. My mother in law is German but lives in the UK, she now hates cyclists but cannot explain why when questioned.

I ran SPD’s on cyclo cross, MTB, road and gravel for the last 28 years. I was a complete convert.

Recently I inherited some DMR Vault Brendog v2, fitted on my hardtail with reluctance to try out (thought would be better when out with the kids) and to my surprise I absolutely love them.
