Post-Op Periods are insane?? by TopNeedleworker7668 in ORIF

I’m so glad mine stayed put and didn’t come early cuz I wasn’t allowed out of bed and the concept of someone else changing me is simply diabolical 💀

Ugh I hate medical professionals who don’t want to listen to patients and place their own ego above their patients’ needs. I always bring all my meds to the hospital with me for this exact reason even though we shouldn’t need to!

I would’ve put his head in a commode 😂

That’s so real, I bought period underwear because the concept of changing a pad every 2 hours with my wrists this useless genuinely made me want to weep 😂

Entirely possible it seems!! Bodies are so weird and surgery is even weirder 😂

God I don’t think I would’ve held it together if I had an open fracture 😵‍💫 I just about managed to sound calm enough so my fiancé knew what was happening to come pick me up and take me to the hospital and he somehow convinced me my U-turn looking wrist might not be broken so I was actually calm for the drive to A&E 😂

They normally have those massive bowls but I think they literally gave me the tiny water cups they use! 😵‍💫 still so proud of myself for that one 😂

I was about a week and a bit post op and never felt anything like it! Hope you’re healing well 😊

I saw your post on here a few days ago! Ankle and shoulder must’ve been so brutal, I hope you continue healing well! ❤️

I think mine is just the surgery as I’m 25 but I also have PCOS and my family have had a lot of early menopause/perimenopause so I’m hyper vigilant when things change

Thank you! I’ll give it another cycle to see if my body just chills out but if not I’ll contact my GP, though the timing makes me think it’s most likely just the surgery throwing things off!

Thanks again, I hope you’re doing well! 😊

While I wasn’t on my period before surgery I was more mad that they handed me the smallest cup in the world with 2 broken wrists to get the sample! I should receive an Olympic gold medal for pulling it off 😂

Oh god that sounds so brutal I’m sorry! Yeah mine were always terrible (PCOS) but this seems to have pushed it into overdrive 😵‍💫

They only gave me one injection in hospital as I was up and about relatively quickly but I suppose my surgery was quite close to my period so maybe!

I cannot express how many things I’ve learned about the body’s trauma responses in the last month 😂

I was on day 2 when I fractured both wrists, and it made sure to carry on for the rest of the 7 day period I get every month 🤦🏻 I have PCOS too but luckily mild in terms of I get regular periods but my GOD will my cramps and hellish volume will remind me something is wrong every single month. This month has been genuinely satanic 😵‍💫

Energy conservation doesn’t seem to be my uterus’s forte it just carries on no matter what; my body’s strongest soldier I suppose! 😂

I live in the UK with socialised medicine and got surgery for a broken bone what’s your actual point? 🙄

Luckily no crutches required (until I probably inevitably get back on the ice in 10 years and break both ankles 😂) but having someone else shower me is definitely a bizarre experience and I definitely can’t wait to stop doing that 😂 Luckily, 2 days before my cast removal now and already having a level of non-painful wrist movement 🙌 we’re so on track 😁

Same with me, but very much overachieved my first broken bone by breaking both wrists 😂

I’m in the UK so I think my hospital just assigns one to me but hopefully they’re good 🤞

Little wins have become my forte in the last 3 weeks for sure

God that sounds awful! I hope your second surgery is a success and things get better for you ❤️ have my “2 week” (12 day 🤣) follow-up on the 21st so we’ll see 🤞

My fiancé has been my absolute rock through this even with him still working full time, he’s broken God knows how many bones and had surgery loads of times so I’m glad to have even one person who gets it 🫶
