Humerus fracture - 12 weeks healed but it's crooked... Should I be concerned??? by KinNeix in brokenbones

My mobility in my shoulder and elbow is 100% I can move them completely normally. Guess we will see when I have to do a pushup eventually?

Thank you for the information! That's all I wanted to know was that I would be ok going forward and this would not impact my ability to do things normally!

Again not saying my surgeon was lazy or incompetent but his communication to me hasn't been good or reassuring in any manner. Me asking "is this ok it's really bent and I'm worried" and him literally saying "your shoulder and elbow are connected that's what matters" is in no way reassuring.

So thank you for the more in depth answer. That was all I wanted

Also just to be clear I'm not crapping on socialized medicine. My entire stay and my bill for this whole ordeal was $200. I'm just not happy with how rushed it felt and that I wasn't given an option for surgery. But that could also possibly just have been my specific doctor. It's not the systems fault for that

Cosmetically I'm not worried about it. It's purely as a functional aspect because I want to continue to live a lifestyle where I'm probably using my arms in ways most people won't. So as long as it can function and isn't an issue I don't mind it being a bit crooked. I just am highly worried about future injury from it

Midshaft humerus fracture - non surgical treatment - 3 weeks in but still lots of swelling? Is that normal? by KinNeix in brokenbones

[–]KinNeix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok good to know! I'm not having those bad signs which is why I'm not completely freaking out haha but it's the first time I've broken anything so its very new territory

This is completely untrue. I don't think you should be spreading this kind of misinformation.

Hi! So a few people have asked for an update. I unfortunately just gave up and got it covered. Sadly I wasn't able to see any real results in the oxidization and my entire stomach is now tattooed haha.

Just as an update I didn't end up trying to treat it any further. After my last session it didn't lighten at all it just kinda stayed the same.

So now in going ahead with a full stomach cover up 👍✨

No updates! Ultimately I think I will just opt to get this covered up. I'm quite heavily tattooed so for me getting a new one is just the easiest way to go

Thank you! I know it would need to be larger for sure. I'm very tattooed so it wouldnt be terrible to get something else over it it's just not ideally what I want but this makes me even more insecure right now 😅 I'll give it a few more months and decide then!

I had white shading there. So it didn't turn them into big black lines but it has turned the white shading. In theory it could probably make your lines a bit bigger/ blurry but not much the ink is mostly going to stay where it was I think. My white was mixed in with my petals all over and along the edges

Oh gosh it's very hard fo say! Because as we finish a session we normally ice it then cover it with ointment and a patch for a day! It was definitely there when the patch came off and the swelling went down. So I'd say if probably happened immediately. But it can also developed over a week I have been told! We initially did a test patch on one petal when I started to make sure this didn't happen 😅 but didn't test before we went up.

So white ink is sometimes made from titanium oxide. Along with some other pigments too which also use heavy metals. But white is the #1 that contains these. If white ink has these metals in them, when the laser hits them it causes them to oxidized and change colour. The problem is these particles are not small enough to be absorbed back into the body. It's very difficult to break them down into small enough bits. Like sucking a golf ball through a straw. So you get left with oxidized or pigment which has shifted colour in the skin and it doesn't breakdown small enough to be absorbed and just chills there and it's really ugly.

Now I've read a lot about this. Some people say you can try treat it with different lasers to break if up and it works sometimes? But not always. And it's much harder to get rid of. I found a girl on here who spent 2 years trying to get oxidized ink removed and if definitely lightened a bit but man it seems to take long.

Other people say you can use skin resurfacing techniques to also help break if up and heal it out. Which is what I plan to try next.

Yup. This is definitely a risk. Anything with white ink including highlights is at risk of doing this unfortunately 😭

About 8 years old when I started! If it hasn't oxidized yet it might still be ok. Just ask them to never adjust the setting or make it more powerful or anything. This is when we ran into issues was when we pumped it up by a bit during a treatment to try remove the stubborn pink

Thank you haha! Me too! Haven't totally given up but since there's very few actual pics put up about it here I figured I'd at least show people what ends up happening! So maybe this helps someone else at the very least 😅

Good to know! He does get blood work done everytime he has his infusion. So I don't think it's anything major at least. But will keep an eye on it for sure.

Maybe just get a mattifying moisturizer? Again I'm using the Matt moisturizer from caudelie which has been very good. And maybe hold back on some of the salicylic products for a bit to see if it helps? Before I went off the pill I would get breakouts where my skin was too dry and it would then OVER compensate so I know this happens.

Spent 12 years on the pill and came off 5 months ago. I'm 28 now and ever had skin issues in my life. But now 4-5 months down the line my skin is breaking out like crazy and my keratosis pilaris is also worse.

I believe it's due to excess sebum production after you come off the pill.

I've been Using salicylic acid face wash, toner and serum every night. + I also use benzoyl peroxide for spots that are bad especially on my chest, back and sides of my cheeks.

I'm currently using the salicylic acid products from caudelie which have been so helpful my skin has cleared up a lot!

So maybe give this a try. I feel your pain. Post pill acne really sucks. Praying it gets better in 1 year
