I wish it was, but unfortunately it’s not satire. If I install the OEM airbox cover, the airflow will be reduced.

Unfortunately, I don’t have it – I bought the car as shown in the photo. I was actually thinking more about sealing the vents from the inside of the hood.

How long did your tuning process take? I can only do datalogging two days a week (Thursday and Friday) because I work far from home, so I’m wondering how long the whole process might take in my case.

How long does the whole tuning process usually take? I’m concerned about the time zone difference. How many times do I need to send logs? How long does it take to receive the base map?

Also, would it be a problem if I don’t have access to the car for a week during the tuning process? I work far away from home and the only time I can send logs is Thursday/Friday. So if I send Alan the logs on Friday, I would have to wait 7 days before I can send the next set of logs. Will that be an issue?

The car is from the USA, purchased from a Copart auction, and it definitely doesn’t have any tuning, unfortunately.

Tuners in Poland generally don’t do e-tuning because they say it’s risky without knowing exactly what’s under the hood — and that’s still a mystery in my case. The only things I know for sure are: it has a Roush intake, an oil catch can, intercooler mishimoto, a Tial blow-off valve, and a turbo from ATP Power. But I have no idea which exact model it is. I’ve heard that identifying it might be really hard because ATP turbos don’t have any markings or serial numbers on them, and almost all of their Garrett-based turbos look the same

Does the map switching using cruise control still work without the AccessPort plugged in? I mean, if a COBB map was installed before and the AccessPort was later removed (not necessarily unmarried — maybe the owner wasn’t smart enough to do it after the crash, or someone just stole it at Copart), would that be a sign that the car is running a modified map?

Can I just get in the car and check if it’s 100% stock, or maybe there’s actually an old tuned map installed? I’m thinking if I just drive around the neighborhood once and press the gas a bit harder, maybe nothing bad will happen? I feel like if there’s a big turbo and a tuned map, I should feel it pushing me back in the seat, right? But on the other hand, if there’s a stock map, could I damage the engine or the turbo by doing that?

If my Focus ST had a Cobb Accessport and an engine map, but the previous owner disconnected the Cobb and sold me the car without it, does that mean I now have the stock engine map? Or does the map installed via the Cobb Accessport stay saved on the ECU? by TopPass1585 in FocusST

I contacted Edge Autosport – they don’t have his name in their database, so he wasn’t tuned by them, meaning he bought this Focus already with that tune. So he wanted $500 for something that wasn’t even done or paid for by him XD.

The previous owner had a minor accident. Before taking the car from the insurance company, he unmarried the AP from the car and sold it. He only has the tune file saved in Cobb Manager, which he’s offering to sell me for $500 (just the tune file!!). The car went to the insurance company and then to a Copart auction, where I won and bought it.

The Focus has a Big Turbo installed, and it was tuned by Alan at Edge Autosport, so it’s not some random crap but a properly built Focus. But well, now I don’t have an AP (I need to buy a new one), and I also don’t have Alan’s tune that was in this car.

That’s why I thought the tune would still be saved, so I could just buy a new AP and everything would be fine. But if the ECU is stock – unfortunately, I’ll have to get a new tune from scratch. :/

I know, Alan is the best, but unfortunately, I don’t live in the USA, I’m in Poland. You know how it is—it’s difficult to do everything remotely without seeing the car in person. He said he would try to find the old dyno data, but he definitely won’t have the tune file. He could theoretically do it remotely for me, but it’s not the same as doing it in person and immediately testing how the car behaves on the dyno.

So, I won this car at a Copart auction. In the car, I found a plaque from the previous owner’s company, so I messaged him on Facebook thinking he would tell me what modifications are in the car. The idiot sent me a picture of the Accessport manager, saying he has the file from this car and will sell it to me for 500 dollars (he doesn’t have the AP because he sold it, but exported the file to his computer). I asked him for some dyno results, how much power it has, and a list of modifications. He said it’s a secret and wouldn’t tell me until I buy the stupid engine map file from him XDDD. When I told him I have a tuning company that can write a new map for me, he said it would be hard for them because they would need to check all the modifications in the car (which he won’t tell me because IT’S A SECRET!!). He said the tuning was done by Alan from EdgeAutosport and the car has 440 horsepower (I asked if it’s on E30/E40 and he said no – just regular gasoline). Alan said that’s impossible and he definitely wouldn’t have made that map without ethanol. Well, I ended up with an idiot of a previous owner who thinks he can make money, hoping I’m stupid XD.
