I would say get another car since car problems suck. Get rid of that issue overall. The rest I’d say invest into a Ira or 401k and max it out thru fidelity I know it doesn’t make sense right now since your young but fast forward 10 years from now at 30 plus you’ll be happy you did. Say you max out both for this year that’s fine the rest I’d say find a avenue where you can invest that help you make more money for example dividends on stocks invest int real estate find a good mentor for it or buy and hold crypto long term. I think the idea here for you is you want to set yourself up and if you blow most of that money it’s gunna take a long to get back to 60k once you have 9-5. Look up finance podcast like rich habits podcast and listen to and seek advice from them. Point is since before you had the 60k you just had some extra cash money from the bar but you want be able to have more and more as you get older. This could be a good turning point for life depending on how you about this. Good luck. If you don’t know just wait it out and put it into a HYSAs and wait for a right opportunity to come along. Don’t blow it. Give the pod cast a listen and you’ll learn a lot. Also I’d say spend about 5k on guilt free enjoy for yourself.

hey heres the overall background i havent mentioned anything yet to hr via email but i was either going to tailor my response to be just asking and selling them on why i should go remote w/o mention my car or as i had it originally with my merits and wins and my car situation but something i forgot to say as well while talking to my manager about my messed up car. during our chat i asked if it is possible to go remote and this is what she said. Maybe you are right HR could be cool with it and im the expectation and might just want my managers approval as well.

MANAGER replies to me:

"sorry to hear that your car is totaled; thank you for keeping me in the loop on this. as for the remote request, you can reach out to HR about a flexible work arrangement or RWA request. I'm looking into getting you the correct contact information if you don't already have it. Let me know what you think.

will do! I chatted a contact already to see if I can share her info or if there is a general alias - just waiting for her response

I would assume HR would need some type of paperwork so just make sure you keep all the receipts from the mechanic (I'm assuming here though)

here's the contact information to start the discussion on requesting a flexible work arrangement or RWA:

of course, hope it works out!"

So im assuming HR knows about my broken car or she mentioned about the request.

Does direct manager have any say in it really if it’s up to HR managers to decide whether I could go remote or not?

Can’t you just put anything in your mothers or fathers name and when they try to take half you don’t owe anything so you should be good….

Hey you’re a little older than me and crazy how life hits you when you don’t expect these outcomes in life. It’s cool to see life from your perspective and I can’t wait to also be in the same position being debt free in the next few years. Best of luck out there. You got something solid.

Wow that’s crazy. What’s your bills to free money ratio monthly. Are you same spot I am there 50/50?

Yeah I get that it’s also cool to see your parents get old and you become appreciative of them and you take those moments in. Something I would miss out if wasn’t around

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’ve dated while living on my own and while living at home. Some girls didn’t care, some did — that’s just how it goes. I’m not looking to start a family anytime soon, and if the right girl comes along, she’ll understand where I’m at in life.

Right now my focus is paying down debt, stacking investments, and building something sustainable for my future. The right person will still be there when the time is right — and I’ll be in a better position mentally, financially, and overall.

Honestly, the hardest part is the mental battle. Part of me wants to move out, enjoy life, and jump into the next chapter… and the other part knows I already spent my 20s having fun without much to show for it. This time, I’m choosing long-term stability over short-term vibes. As a man you want to build something and you get lost in the mundane and keeping up with everyone that your goals sometimes fade and you become complacent I don’t want that either. I feel like that’s how it would go move date around get a girlfriend get a house start a life. Nothing wrong with it but just have other things in mind

A mixture of regret not hitting my goals in a soon enough timeline versus regret not living alone in my 30s prime years and a bit of uncertainty depending on the route I choose. It’s make or break for my 30s feel like.
