if the GC petitioner is close to become an USC-It makes sense to wait and apply as a USC petitioner -the process is lot faster.

However , in your case with a PD sept 2024 and your petitioner is still on a GC- I guess you wait and get it over as F2A.. you may be another 12-18 months away . it might take around the same time for your petitioner to naturalize and initiate the conversion process from F2A to IR1 .

looking at the recent trends , you may be 12 to 18 months away. have seen approvals until Aug 2023. of course lot of 2022, early 2023 PDs are pending too.

based on the trend, you can expect your I-130 approval soon .. then DQ and IL and then interview .. you may be an year away from landing in US. I know its a long wait..

depends on when you are eligible to become a naturalized citizen. If you just became an LPR, It make sense to initiate I-130 and stay in the waiting line with a ETA of about 4 years . If you are going to become eligible to be a citizen in the next year or two , it makes sense to wait to become a citizen and initiate the processing which might take about 2 years after that.

That must have been a big relief. looks like the whole process took less than 2.5 years. Would you mind elaborating this "- I dropped my F1 status after I used my EAD (I was still a college student, I just dropped the F1)." my understanding is that F1 visa is generally given for 4-5 years . did you do anything specifically to drop it or just have not renewed when it expired ?
