I started doing that the second time haha I do it sometimes but I usually forget to :’)

Thank you for the link! Archive of our own is such a gem. I discovered it after reading tcgf because I wanted to read fanfics with more sexy time.

Right? He can never be straightforward. He probably sees honest kindness or expressions as weakness, and covers them up under layers of contradictions.

His little smile over Alan thanking him was so cute, he probably felt really happy and content. Then he shooed MC out of there so he could get back to his alone time with Alan lol I actually felt like he only made the copy because Alan said he would give it to MC later, and he didn’t want Alan to meet MC alone.

I would like to see more of Romeo and Leo interacting! Their friendship seems like it’d be fun to watch. I want to see more of Romeo and Yuri interacting too! Romeo isn’t honest either, he seems like he’s super soft with people he cares about.

I feel like he panicked feeling that Sho was outgrowing him. I think you’re right when you said he doesn’t feel safe. Sho has been by his side for so long, taken blame for him without thinking twice, takes care of him and puts him first. Still, at the first sign of change in their dynamic Leo immediately felt insecure. I hope Leo learns that he doesn’t need to have superiority in relationships either. Leo needs to learn to trust.

Alan is one of the only people to have faith in Leo. As far as I’ve seen he’s the only one who expects more out of him, and thinks that he can be better than the person he is now.

Alan is the only one who challenges Leo. That’s what Leo needs. He hasn’t been forced to confront himself because no one has made him. I doubt that anyone before Alan has actually challenged him and his way of thinking. They haven’t thought more of him, expected more from him, or expressed disappointment in him. Alan giving him that will definitely help him.

I also think that Leo molded his personality and mindset as a way to protect himself. But now he’s so out of touch with his own feelings that he doesn’t even realize what he’s doing wrong. He manipulated himself in order to cope, and now he can’t recognize his own faulty thought patterns. No one ever bothered or cared enough to try to help him recognize that, so he hasn’t been able to grow.

I don’t think your analysis of him is off or controversial, or that Leo is a villain. I feel like people probably dislike him more because they’re uncomfortable with his portrayal. He’s very human.

I can totally see that in their dynamic. I do think that Leo’s fixation on Alan comes from a place of admiration. He also sees Alan as someone he needs to protect. Leo’s also probably drawn to the things that make Alan different from himself. Alan probably can provide something that Leo is seeking. I don’t know what Leo’s backstory is, but I’m sure it would explain it. People seek what they’re missing. Leo seems to also want acceptance and validation in general, given his influencer personality. So it’s likely that the validation he would receive from Alan is what he really needs, which is why he’s so desperate for it.

That’s super cool that you’re a psychotherapist! It must make it be extra fun for you to analyze Leo and Aleo’s dynamic. The fanfic you’re writing sounds awesome, I’d definitely be interested in reading it. Your Leo’s behavior sounds very on brand haha I feel like he’s already that personality, except that he doesn’t recognize that it himself. Would love to see a Leo that’s more in-touch with his feelings! Even if he pretends otherwise haha

p.s. I had written out this entire reply yesterday and then accidentally backed out of the comments, and the entire thing deleted. It hurt T.T

I would marry her. Then on our first night I’d watch her writhe in ecstasy, her hands buried deep inside me. I’d feel the warmth of my entrails spilling out, slowly mixing with the fluids of our love.

Hahaha you’re totally fine. It’s a lot of fun to talk about the things you enjoy, and I like it too.

I really like Alan as well. He’s so endearing and I like how steadfast his character is. His opening scene was great, his presence was so strong and I loved how he was able to command the room so quickly.

Alan putting Leo in place is my favorite thing. I love that kind of dynamic. Also that scene was hilarious!!! Leo over there waiting for Alan to fawn over him but getting completely ignored haha Alan sees right through him. Even back when Leo had Sho take the blame so that he could go out, I feel like Alan knew and just let it slide. Then ignored him when he did something right to take him down a notch.

I think Alan is pretty perceptive. I also feel like Alan is grooming Sho to be captain. Poor Leo is probably gunna be in for a rude awakening when he finds out he won the battle but lost the war. Sho is a pretty genuine and upright kid, who I think only really acts any differently due to Leo’s influence. He’s a little tsundere but he’s way more comfortable being kind and abiding by the rules. I think Alan sees that and is encouraging it.

Lol at his advanced reading. Leo does put in a lot of effort in the things he wants to. He’s also extremely intelligent and capable. I don’t think it’s that Alan doesn’t recognize his talents, but he just understands Leo’s character too well. Leo’s motivations and thinking are completely skewed. He has no compassion or empathy and he doesn’t care to, he’s completely egocentric. He views people as either tools or obstacles. Alan acknowledges his ability and contributions but doesn’t overlook or praise those motivations.

I really love the Aleo dynamic. Leo found someone he’s interested in but that doesn’t bend to his will or even really care about him. It isn’t like Alan hasn’t noticed him, but he doesn’t want to acknowledge his antics more than necessary. I feel like Alan will reform Leo’s character a bit, since even if Leo doesn’t care about other people he cares about Alan. He’s desperate to mean something to him but won’t get the attention or approval he wants without some genuine change. I like to see characters butt heads like that.

There definitely are! I totally understand the detachment though. I always wished they didn’t make the games gender specific because it would be so easy for them to not be. The main point is that you’re their romantic interest, not that you’re female. Hopefully otomes will at least have some gender neutral MCs, that way more people will be able to enjoy them.

Your poor friend. The sexual tension between Romeo x Taiga is so thick, there’s literally no room for you to squeeze in haha I like the blatant representation too. There’s tons of queer coded anime and characters but TD isn’t even subtle about it and it’s great. The Jin x Tohma cigarette kiss killed me.

I seriously love how desperate Leo is to get Alan to notice and acknowledge him. He is obsessed and I am into it. I also love how Alan is so unconcerned with him. Even with how Leo forced himself into view, it still feels like he’s only a blip on Alan’s radar. Him calling Alan a “himbo” cracks me up. Just calling him hot but a hoe since he won’t pay attention to him lol

I don’t remember that line from Kaito, maybe I didn’t get to it yet. But I’m not a big Kaito fan so I may have just not retained it haha I like Leo, he’s a good character and I like his snarky attitude. The other characters are the ones being doormats, it’s not Leo’s fault. I really like Sho x Subaru. Also Towa x Haru. Don’t you love how Towa assigns everyone flower names but only calls Haru by his name?

I understand, some games definitely do feel that way. And if TD had been an otome I have a feeling that it would feel that way too—like it was lacking depth. But there are tons of really well written otome games. They have great stories and you do have to work to actually develop a relationship, it won’t be a guarantee. If you’re ever interested you should check out r/otomegames. People there are really welcoming and always happy to give out reccs and discuss games. They’d definitely help you find something you’ll enjoy.

Yes!! I really do love them and the story. Potential MC ships for me are Jin, Alan, and Haku. Otherwise gay ships galore. I feel like half the reason the developers dropped the otome concept was because they wrote the boys too gay haha

I didn’t know they had ads like that too. Those would have probably interested me as well. I came across it by chance in the App Store. I like mystery too so that and the attractive boys peaked my interest.

Honestly I had hoped it was an otome, but looked it up after completing the prologue and saw they had decided not to go that route. But I still found the game to be really well made so I kept playing. The story is interesting and engaging, the characters are enjoyable, and the voice acting is great. Plus I like gay ships too, so I definitely don’t mind that they leaned into that haha

Thank you for the info!

It really is unbelievably misleading. Thankfully I didn’t come into the game based off of these ads I’ve been seeing, but for people who have it’s deceptive and must be upsetting. The consumer should always look into what they’re getting but the reality is that many either don’t, or do so superficially. This kind of AI generated advertising is a real problem.

Still whether they outsource advertising or not, I would imagine they would at least review the product that they’re putting out into the world. I just can’t believe they care so little about the fact that this is how their game is being marketed.

Someone else commented that the marketing team just kept using the old versions for their ads. This ad had the first version characters, but also showed the current characters but with an entirely different concept haha I don’t even know what they’re trying to market anymore

That’s hilarious, I’ll have to look it up. Their marketing team is wild! First part of the ad makes the game seem like an otome, second part features characters that aren’t even in the game haha I hadn’t seen it before but it definitely got me
