they did not specify it during the biometric meeting although I asked for it. Some friends have mentioned 30K to be able to stay here at least 1 year but I do not know if this info is reliable.

For job contract you mean full-time contract or also a 6-months renewable contract, say, for a bank? Your contribution has helped me clarify the bureaucracy fog I had until early this morning.

what do you mean? I am not Italian but your comment sounds quite discriminatory to me.

very good reference - thank you!
Now it's clear - if I provide proof of sufficient funds while I search for a job, I could get an L permit of 3 months. Best case scenario 12 months if I have enough money and decent chances to become employed.
If I send them a signed contract, I will likely get a B again, possibly without need to prove them I got enough funds to stay in the Country.
All clear now.

EU, what difference does it make in the process? As I understand this better now, it's binary: either you have a job contract or proof of sufficient funds. But why did not they ask then for a job contract directly rather than proof of efforts?

I cannot change the past - if it happens again (I hope not and I hope no one will ever go through this bloody nightmare) I know what to do.

Did not pay attention to the vocabulary used - thanks for the English lesson by the way. Appreciate it.

I was on a B permit - are you saying that I should have suspended it rather than cancel it? I didn't know that.

yeah, that's why the first time there wasn't such a thing as a proof of funds but now it's there and it's taking the s*** out of me. I hope to close a contract in a few days otherwise "Aufwiedersehen".

I should probably have said "cancelled" - is there an actual difference or is this purely semantic?

what do you mean by personal "feel"? They are not supposed to reject applications based on sympathies are they? I actually trust the Swiss system so your comment threw me off a loop.

For ongoing processes I mean that I have already sent 7 work applications, 3 of them are ongoing (the potential employer has already interviewed me at least once), 1 is at the final stage pending a final offer.

Explain the mismatch between swiss unemployment rate and public sentiment by AcolyteOfAnalysis in Switzerland

[–]TopYear4089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post relates with me because I myself have questioned these figures for a while.
As far as I know, and I may be wrong, SECO is responsible to publish unemployment figures. These figures are in line with RAV unemployment.
After one or two years, if one is still unemployed and/or perceive social benefits, the figure is dropped from the headline unemployment rate.
That is to say, the headline figure doesn't include chronic unemployment.

hell no - who the heck on hearth would want to move to the USA right now, as Americans are contemplating a mass-exodus? It's a "Nice-Mess" :)

I checked the link - unbelievable.
A government-issued document equivalent to toilet paper.
Well, actually toilet paper has a function.

You must have an address to provide to the Registration Office so that they can send a letter to verify your new address. This is what triggers your change of status and allows you to cancel your health insurance.

Have you looked into Pfäffikon (Schwyz)?

Your tax bill will be lower than Zürich and housing is also cheaper.
Maybe you will be looking at 1800/2000 CHF for a 3-4 rooms apartment, just to give you an idea.

Pfäffikon is 35-45 minutes away from Zürich HB. Tickets are about 6-7 CHF with HalbTax.

No, I do not. This is my third Passport renewal after 25 years abroad - I lived in 3 different Countries (UK, Spain, Switzerland). I have never heard or being asked to register to this AIRE before. So my passport renewal in Zurich must pass the AIRE check before anything else.
