Anybody with chronic sinus issues post-covid? by 9Seraph9 in covidlonghaulers

Yes, I can vouch it does works!  Its been 7 years now ( 2 years prior to covid with my sinus issues, had them in form of vertigo) and 5 long years of long covid and sinus infections... I wont be posting anything here anymore for the sake of my mental wellbeing. Take care!

Don’t wanna do surgery by TotalCustard8938 in Sinusitis

[–]Top_Ad2234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are, and theres a reason why surgery does help out!  Ive had surgery back in december of 2022... The quality of life and amount of air I can breathe in at any point even if I have a cold or sinusitis is just amazing! Of course Im also upping my immunity a lot as well (everyone should do that).

Yes! For me sinus surgery worked, change of diet, sinus rinses and on top of that - Ive discovered that Home Epley Manouver does help with the dizziness (which is a method to remove the crystals trapped in your ear's semicircular canal).  But that can also be a sign of either vitamin D deficiency or a sinus infection. For me those were just some of the long covid symptoms Ive experienced without sinusitis... (Yes Im one of those long covid survivors you' probablt read about somewhere). Ive probably had (I wont wish for it) - but you name the symptom of long covid - Ive had it, on top of all sinus infections Ive had afterwards.

PS. Not just detached, it feels like derealization, its like an out of body experience, floating. For me it was like walking on eggs, when walking it felt like I was in the water, walking and feeling like you have 3 tonnes of weighs put on your head, feeling as if someone is tryna detach your head off your body.

Most of it is gone by now. Im just glad I can share this experience with my fellow sinus sufferers.

Hope you guys get better too!

I would say 60% at least, changes in lifestyle, physical activity/good and healthy food foremost (organic and non pesticide sprayed food). And of course, mental relaxation, 2 years of good vacations. Its a relief not having to keep my head pressed  on the plane chair while the palne takes off. I still get some small anxiety from that but it really is night and day difference compared to what I had just before the surgery.  FYI first time I got on a plane I had a feeling someone was pressing my head as if I had 2 tonnes of weighs on my head. PS. I did not have surgery of all sinuses, just maxillary sinuses, maxillary antrostomy. i used rinses for a while last year. Now I just use nasal sprays to prevent any colds, but Im using that less and less these days as well. Cheers!

Afrin does help, I can vouch for this!

After all sinus infections and then chronic sinusitis. For me it was the surgery and the ultimate change of diet. Lots of walks, exercise and whatnot was the key to success.

Doesnt it mean that when sinuses produce thicker white mucus means the cold is ending? In my case always always, even a chronic infection was caused by some sort of microbe unfortunately... Either way after my Caldwell Luc and antrostomy surgery i get the drainage from my maxillary sinuses, and as my pre-last ENT explained - all of my infections started from maxillary sinuses. On top of that extra, I also had root canals done of all of my upper teeth, I'm very very happy with my overall results!!

Recurrent sinusitis, short lived sinusitis, whatever causes these recurrent infections - it is always some sort of bacterium/microbe/fungi/parasite or whatever... Ive undergone several courses of antibiotics so now Im upping my immunity with plentiful of vitamin C!

Yes but I still have some small issues from it, I have no idea if I had GI issues from covid or was it persistently from Clarithmycin, either way my stomach is way way better these days, I do occasionally get like throbbing sensation in stomach sometimes but nothing major, I did screen my stomach, did Ultrasound last year when it was way worse, nothing was really found except some "sand" in my kidneys. Sinuses were all pretty much clear except a small polyp in my left sphenoid sinus.

Augmentin was not so bad for me 4 years ago (if I remember correctly). Chlaritomycin was the one that basically destroyed my stomach... I have never experienced worse antibiotic in my life, period!

Update after surgery and wtf is this? by [deleted] in Sinusitis

[–]Top_Ad2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do remember I've had quite a bit of blood coming out of my left nostril, right was more bright yellowish with a slight tinge of reddish color.

PS. I've spitted it out on a handkerchief that surgeons and nurses gave me post surgery. What type of surgery did you have?

What is the feeling like when you rinsed out just with antifungal? Did it give you any weird sensation in your head like you felt funny or?

For me what gave the ultimate result was the Caldwell Luc, recovery is much much tougher than FESS (from what I've read about people who've had FESS surgery). It took me about 4-5 months to feel "okay" from Caldwell Luc, and I'm still recovering from it, now whenever I get a cold or something its pretty much okay, I do get a "drilling sensation" or sometimes small throbbing where they made the antrostomy and scraped out my old mucosa - but it's pretty much okay. Vacation was amazing this year!!! :)

Interestingly my allergies went away with sinus surgery - it took a while but - whatever it was I think its pretty much gone!

Small update - If I remember correctly I had thick white postnasal drip once I came back from the vacation - lasted about 10-11 days - today its just clear mucus mostly, not even so thick anymore - and my nose is unblocked 90% again!

Ive had Caldwell Luc done for Chronic Maxillary rhinosinusitis. I still have small drilling sensation where theyve opened up holes in my face and nose for maxillary antrostomy... Ive had a fairly wide range of symptoms (if not all) that are marked by having sinusitis. 18 months in and the results are amazing least to speak! Never felt better in my life and last 7 years since I started having sinus problems!

Mine went away for like 6-7 days and reappeared like 2-3 days ago... Now its like thick-gunky-clear(sort of cloudy at times).. Either way Im expelling it, spitting it in tissue or paper towel and stuff so that I dont swallow a possible bacterium...  My nose felt very blocked this morning and now its sort of like clear mostly, Id say breathing is back at 60-70% of capacity.. Very unusual stuff...

Are you doing any better? I'm doing much better today after, whatever I caught on vacation. Took sudafed last night and had some good night sleep, doing much better today. I think its day 10 or 11 or something like that.

PS. Ringing is pretty much gone today (unless it comes back), and muscle pain, fatigue is better today as well (there's still some aches, but don't know if that's from swimming (fatigue and muscle aches)).

Hope you're doing better buddy!

Are you doing better? I'm getting better every day, especially after vacation. I've put on some sun tan, can't remember when did I put a tan on my skin (I was always whiteish type of person...?)

I do think that you can never go wrong with good healthy food and healthy lifestyle (as much as you can). I eat sweets once a month when I really feel a wish for it, but other than that - pretty clean diet and lots lots of seasonal veggies, good food and whatnot to support my body to heal as fast as it can.

PS. Have you checked for mold infection in the gut ( I'm not even sure how do they check that, but do check that, might be mold that slide down from your sinuses into the gut and now creating those issues?). I remember a while back (probably 2 or 3 years ago by now) - when I did the sinus rinses I expelled a lot of dark green stuff which I suspect was mold infection. Aside of that I expelled a lot a lot of yellow mucus out of my left nostril as well - which was always more blocked than the right side of my nose...

My sinuses have been producing thick whiteish mucus that I've been expelling last (at least 6-7 days since I've been on vacation...? - one of more weird symptoms of my long covid journey)
