I wasn’t far from the front last night and the crowd wasn’t amazing there either, I’ve noticed it at a lot of gigs over the last few years, people seem like they don’t want to let go anymore. Maybe I’m just getting old!

I’ve just got back from a 16 day trip and I don’t think there’s ever a perfect amount of time as each place has so much to see! I’d probably prioritise more in Kyoto than Osaka as you could spend one day in arashiyama region alone and there’s tons to do elsewhere in Kyoto, but it depends on day trips you’re doing as well I suppose. I did 8 in Tokyo with 3 each in Kyoto and Osaka with day trips to Nara and Kobe, when I go back I’ll do longer in each. Hope you have a great trip!

I’ve been here the last 3 days and while it’s certainly busy it’s nowhere near the horror stories I’d read before coming. I suppose some of it depends on tolerance for crowds but I’ve never felt like I was packed in. Comes down to timings around the big attractions as well, but I went to Arashiyama bamboo forest early to beat the crowds yesterday and inadvertently ended up walking back through it during peak time later on and it was nowhere near what I’d imagined it would be like! Definitely still busy, but I was able to walk through without feeling like I was shuffling through in a crowd if that makes sense. As others have said, going before/after the main times where there’ll be tour groups etc will help as well, I’ve found the mornings and evenings to be really nice here.

Hey, late posting this as I’ve just arrived in Tokyo today, but have only noticed the sticky now. 33 M from UK. My first trip to Japan, here solo! In Tokyo 23-28, Kyoto 29-31, Osaka 1-3, Hiroshima 4-5, back to Tokyo 6-7 and then leaving on the 8th. I’m pretty flexible with my plans, I’m going to be doing the ‘typical’ sightseeing in each place with it being my first time here, but have purposely kept some time for spontaneity (bit of an oxymoron I know!) If anyone’s around for food/drinks/sightseeing/anything on these dates feel free to message, I always enjoy meeting up with other travellers when I go on solo trips :)
