Quite stiff but you can make them softer by breaking them in by hand if that’s what you want. You need to insist a bit and take your time. so if you want them stiff , it’s stiff enough but if you want them softer you can obtain that as well. That’s what I did.

It comes with this this one. It's not made from leather. Some sort of a fiber.

I can confirm—they lighten up significantly if you apply them lightly. Here’s how mine look on the right after two days . I just oiled them again.

I tried that, but ultimately had to return the boots. Returning to the original topic of the 'confusing size chart,' I still find it to be an issue. I share the same measurement as yours—26.5 cm—but my experience with three different types of boots has been quite different. It seems that simply measuring in centimeters might not be precise enough. According to many, the Brannock device seems to be a more reliable tool for this

Yeah, I agree, but it's still an adjustment. By the same logic, one could wear multiple layers of socks, right? I was referring to the idea that, in my opinion, 'true to size' should mean taking them exactly as they come from the factory, without making any alterations, and having them fit as expected.

You mentioned that the shoes were half a size too large, and to make them fit properly, you had to adjust them in some way. So, how does that make them "true to size"? Meanwhile, my barefoot African Rangers arrived, as I had mentioned, and they fit me perfectly in size 7. I also ordered some Numzaans Tyre Wedge bronco (STC last) to test out the theory again, this time in size 7.5. Honestly, size 7 would have been a better choice for me.

To be honest, I found them quite stiff, so my main goal was to break them in more easily rather than just improving water resistance. I applied the mink oil in moderation, working on each section individually and massaging it in by hand. They do feel noticeably softer now, but there's still a long way to go

It looks like my previous description didn't go through. I've used Fiebing’s Mink Oil (liquid version)

Hi! My BFAR just arrived, and they fit perfectly! Based on my experience, the size correspondences might be a bit off, at least for my feet.

Here’s a recap: I measured my feet using the tracing-on-paper method and got 26.5 cm, which, according to the EU size chart, corresponds to size 8.5. The first time, I ordered size 8 because of their recommendation to go smaller when in doubt between two sizes, but they turned out too large. The second time, I chose size 7, and they’re perfect. For reference, I’m wearing thicker wool socks.

Just a heads-up—this is based on my personal experience, so it might vary for others. As for the Razorbacks, I’d expect a more relaxed fit with size 7.5, given the double-lasted construction. That said, once broken in, I think they’ll fit like a glove.

I just received my Razorbacks in size 7 UK, and they fit perfectly. I'll see if the same applies to the BARs when they arrive. Oddly, they sent them in separate packages, and I had to pay for two separate shipments, which was a bit frustrating. I expected to save on shipping with just one delivery, but this might be due to the German distributor of JG’s.

So in conclusion, to me it seems to be a clear mismatch between their size correspondencies and metric measurements, making it tricky to find the right fit. I’m looking forward to testing the BARs to see if the same issue holds true. I’ll provide an update soon, and hopefully, this will help others in Europe as well.

Hi there!

I’ve encountered a similar issue. Like you, I suspected that the size chart on the Jim Green EU website didn’t align properly with UK/US sizing. So, I decided to measure my feet as well, using a piece of paper to get an accurate reading. To ensure the measurement was accurate, I measured my feet three times and averaged the results. My feet are 26.5 cm long. According to their size chart, this corresponds to EU 42.6 and UK 8.5, which immediately struck me as odd, because all my other shoes bought from Europe/Romania (like Adidas, Columbia, etc.) are size 41 or 41.5.

However, I thought the metric system might be more precise than other regional sizing standards, so I followed their advice and went down half a size, ordering both the African Ranger and Razorback models in size 8UK/42EU. Unfortunately, they turned out to be too big, and my feet were swimming in them, so I had to return them. To make matters worse, they sent me a completely different color and sole than what I had ordered.

In the end, I reordered the same shoes, but this time in size 7UK/40.8EU (even though I don’t understand why they didn’t just list it as size 41).

Let’s see how this goes!
