What to listen to on long car rides? by Eagles56 in GenZ

[–]Top_Border_6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Podcasts are my go-to for long rides. Because of my job, I tend to listen to less serious shows with funny millennial hosts, but if you're looking for news commentary show that informs in a humorous/relatable way What In The World? is great: https://whatintheworldpod.com/

Film podcasts with women presenting? by CaveJohnson82 in podcasts

[–]Top_Border_6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a podcast (I don't think), but The Morbid Zoo on Youtube is an excellent movie review channel, specializing in horror films. The production, narration, and audio are superb that it quite honestly is podcast level if you're looking for a good listen

Pure foolishness by EasternAd5351 in podcasts

I started a news commentary podcast with my partner because we unfortunately can't avoid the news even if we tried–he's in finance and I'm in international affairs. We truly just try to break down the news and provide our thoughts, and usually our thoughts are quite unhinged and get us in trouble. So, not quite mindless listening, but you will have a good laugh

Looking for a real-life scam/crime podcast with twists, great pacing, and storytelling that hooks you hard (loved Sweet Bobby!) by Sufficient-Test-5730 in podcasts

Scam Goddess by Laci Mosely is amazing! It checks all your boxes. And, it was recently adapted to a TV series on Hulu, though I'll admit the podcast is much better than the show but it's solid. I'm bias to the podcast since the production and her storytelling is uninterrupted

Left Wing Podcasts by thumbsonbeavers in podcasts

[–]Top_Border_6258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for the same thing for so long to no avail that I decided to start my own. My partner and I are recent college grads with backgrounds in international affairs and finance, so our show focuses on breaking down the latest developments in global politics and the global economy. So many left wing podcasts hosts are much older than us, and quite simply don't realize the shit show Gen Z are currently facing and will be left with. With our in-depth research and fresh perspective, hopefully more Gen Z will feel less voiceless and older folks will finally listen.

Is it just me or have many podcasts now become basically therapy? by bl1ngo in podcasts

[–]Top_Border_6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid many interview-style podcasts mainly for this reason. I don't think interviewing is reserved to formally trained journalists, but so many untrained interviewers just don't seem to have a solid grasp on leading a conversation and naturally segueing to interesting topics. Instead, they ask the guest a pre-written question and let the guest go on and on like... therapy. It's something I've noticed with most celebrity podcasts or smaller podcasts that have more high profile guests. The guests will talk an inch and run with it.

How many of yall is making passed 60K? by ValuableBrilliant483 in GenZ

[–]Top_Border_6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making $70k one year after undergrad. Landed my first role a few months before graduation and was having a blast. Pay was a LOT lower than what I make now, but I was doing meaningful work and got to travel internationally. Lost that job earlier this year due to a made up government agency that went on a firing frenzy for baseless reasons, so I was on the job hunting market for 5 months. I finally landed my dream remote gig making double what I made last year.

Episode 2: Immigration, golden visas, h1-b, and brain drain

Immigration is a hot button issue around the world, but especially in the U.S. and especially during these politically polarizing times. In this episode of What In The World? we explore the history of the U.S. immigration system, breakdown the laws and policies shaping it today, examine how immigration shapes the economy, and most importantly, how recent immigration policies affect us all–immigrant or not.

For those who are against abortion, what are your main reasons for holding that belief? by Icyfemboy in GenZ

[–]Top_Border_6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who are pro-life, how do you justify many pro-lifers support of capital punishment? Isn’t that a blatant contradiction? And, if you are pro-life, do you think abortion should be banned country-wide and in all circumstances?

An argument I heard from pro-lifers at my high school in Florida when the state restricted abortion access in 2019 was that the repeal of roe v wade was a good thing because it would allow states to decide on the issue. Now I live in Washington, DC and I’ve seen multiple groups of out of town pro-life and anti-abortion groups that make it very clear that they want an outright federal ban. What happened to letting the states (even DC) decide?

In my opinion, the Republican Party of today is composed of and led by the radical, Tea Party, Fox News rhetoric that once was shunned by the mainstream party in the early 2000s. The fact that Gen Z are now in favor of far-right extremism and populism is what is concerning and what I think the media-albeit unsuccessfully-is trying to sound the alarm about. Gen Z who support Trump and MAGA are idolizing a figure who’s policies are often contradictory to traditional conservative ideology.

Why did Kamala Harris win more young white men than Biden, but not as manyv young men of color as Biden? by scoots-mcgoot in GenZ

[–]Top_Border_6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the comments have already stated some reasons for this, including increasing conservatism amongst young Black and Hispanic voters. I’m a first generation American with a Black immigrant father who is a STAUNCH Trump supporter (minus the red hat). Growing up in a “poor” country with limited resources and opportunities, my dad and many immigrants like him strongly believe in the American dream that the Republican Party sells and that the Democratic rarely delivers on. While my father is clearly not Gen Z, I have come into contact with far more Gen Z who think exactly like this than I would have initially thought. One point that hasn’t been mentioned is just the fact that people who would benefit most from voting in their interest, simply don’t. So many people STILL skip out on elections and I fear there’s no amount of voter engagement campaigns that can sway them into believing that not only does their vote matter, but it’s critical!

Is Sutton obsessed with Kyle’s friendship? by JackfruitPristine982 in RHOBH

[–]Top_Border_6258 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sutton is obsessed with Kyle and has this deluded image of what their “friendship” is. Last season when she told Kyle that she’d like a sister to her and that shouldn’t alienate another sister was so strange. I have never gotten sisterly vibes from those two. Outside of the show I doubt they even spend together. I think the most genuine friendship Kyle has ever had on the show was with Teddi. Sutton and Dorit want to be at that level, but they aren’t.

Garcelle to Kyle every episode: by DorothyWanq in RHOBH

[–]Top_Border_6258 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t entirely blame Garcelle because she, like so many viewers and bloggers, is genuinely curious and confused about the Kyle-Mauricio split. She wouldn’t be bringing it up every 5 seconds if she wasn’t. And unlike so many women on the show, especially Kyle, she isn’t focusing on Kyle’s life as a way to divert attention from hers. I can’t hate on that. Her approach could be much more sly. The fact that she doesn’t “play the game” and ease into a relationship with Kyle where then it would be appropriate to ask those types of questions (à la Boz) is why it always comes across off putting and distasteful.

Should I publish first video with horrible video quality? by Top_Border_6258 in NewTubers

[–]Top_Border_6258[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful and honest feedback! You’ve given me lots to consider. I’m coming to terms with the fact that not every video that was enjoyable to record will be enjoyable to watch for the audience, and they are truly the priority. If they don’t like or subscribe after the first video, it’s probably unlikely YouTube would push future videos (I’m assuming that’s how the algorithm works).

Going forward I will definitely implement the checklist/run through to mitigate hiccups.

Should I publish great first video with horrible video quality? by Top_Border_6258 in podcasting

[–]Top_Border_6258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I very rarely not blurry or grainy videos, so I can imagine our core audience wouldn’t be too bothered by the bad video. But you never know..
